Getting back to work. The long summer holiday was nice and one of the reasons I was happy with a term time contract, but I was ready to go back a couple of weeks ago.
Making me happy, sat in the garden with a Moretti by myself with the fire pit on. Rare moment of peace and quiet
Just been informed we are opening 2moro for the handful of cadets we have left and if Iām free to attend. So Iām guessing my BPSS came through. I look forward to going back and getting out but Iām dreading the restrictions on Sqn like no kitchen use, so Iām gonna have to make a butty and a flask for the few hours of sitting behind a computer to update all the out of date info on the walls that no one reads

Im all for electric cars and aircraftā¦ but I will miss the smell.
I love the smell of a petrol station or hangar full of oily old aircraftā¦ and when you take the fuel sample from a piston aircraft and inevitably get some on your fingersā¦
Itās all part of the experience.
When itās all batteries I wonder what the smells will be replaced with.
Nothing like getting that wiff of burning Avtur as the jets taxi out.

I grew up in a heavily industrial area and spent 4 years with the smell of proper old diesel in the air.
I think the low speed sound is more important a couple of people in the close have got EVs and thereās been a couple of near misses as people havenāt heard them. I think they sound like old milk floats, but without the reassuring chink of crated bottles.
Cars are bigger than cyclists, shouldnāt be hard to spot them especially for those who were around when the hedgehogs were all over TV ad periods. And those people would also be the ones passing on that lesson for the past 20 years, soā¦

my wife and I were discussing this on the weekend after seeing a handful of supercars go whizzing past us with a glorious noiseā¦
what excitement will there be when the Ferrari is being chased by a Lambo but there is no soundtrack to accompany the visuals???

Itās like watching it on TV with the sound off. You end up backfilling the noise in your own head. But there will be a generation in the future who donāt have that audio recall.
