Sorry, been away, and just coming back onto the forums.
Dining in nights?
Cadets get a brief of the format and who things “should” flow. Had it at a wing dinner, where you were fined if you brought a pint to the table, others where it was fairly relaxed.
We had one, where cadets and staff moved positions between each course to meet new people and chat, before moving again.
The last one we did with the squadron, was a formal dress up, but had fish and chips from the local take away.
Staff serving, and the junior Cpl (or senior cadet who I was going to promote that night) as Mr Vice.
Making me happy:
After a really busy spell at work, and (safely) catching up with friends and family and being completely exhausted - a long weekend to just chill.
Weather looks good, some time to get on top of household admin and spend Monday at the airfield.
Might even be able to put a pair of shorts on if the forecast is right!
(Now watch this get moved to GMG as everything goes wrong at work, staff call in sick and I end up double shifting over the weekend!)
Last night - visit to sqn to sort out range paperwork - one of our cadets told me that she has been awarded one of the Air Pilot gliding scholarships! 
Made my day. Not surprised, she is an exceptional cadet.
The continual nagging to get them to apply worked.

Making me happy - getting a text from eldest saying she has been offered a temporary job doing exactly what she has wanted since childhood that will be made perm once degree result is confirmed.
Very proud dad whose 2 seater sports car has moved a step closer

New set of drain rods. Our house has terrible Victorian drains that block twice a year. Bought a £10 set off Amazon. Two minute jobby and hopefully will save a load of money over the long term.
Very satisfying when you dislodge the blockage and everything rushes away.
(Yup, it’s official, I’ve gone full on dad mode)

It almost certainly means all the usual ‘moving to the premier league’ changes. Like new more expensive team, new management, new kit, higher prices etc etc.

Making me happy: a full days walk with four separate pubs along the way
Simple things, but feeling more back to normal than ever! Bring on day two tomorrow! Sadly only two pubs en-route.
