Wing won’t consider a bigger venue until there is sufficient interest,
sufficient interest won’t occur until a bigger venue is considered.
Those who don’t go, won’t think about going, so if the venue increased in size to accommodate them, the same people would still not go…
Our Wing is always paranoid about costs too, so the idea of not filling a venue/selling out is not only failure and embarrassment but a cost they won’t want to bare.
far better to have an annual event which is a success financially, yet excludes a significant portion of potential attendees, than risk losing money
This is what we were provisionally planning for last summer. Wing parade practice in the morning, early afternoon wing parade with all the VIPs… Then a BBQ in the afternoon, general concensus was that it was a good idea just covid slammed the breaks on it… One for 2022 I guess
Our wing try’s to move the venue about every year to get a hotel in a sector’s area then rotate it to another sector the following year and try to have the hall big enough for about 200 people.
It does seem to work but you do see some people who refuse to go for various reasons. Some of which annoy me as they make accusations without actually going to one.
