Last two hours have been hell. Two neurodivertant kids, out of routine, over stimulated… and probably over sugared…
Youngest with Autism and PDA, screaming, shouting, throwing, being massively defiant… Throwing a fit because I gave her a pink muslin, rather than a yellow muslin square to snuggle…
This is my life right now, but he’s hairy likes to rip my face off. But it’s not frowned upon to lock him in a cage when I’m bored of him being a douche
The people who sold us the house likes the village so much they brought the house next door so they could stay (I say people, it’s just the wife who wanted to stay after the breakup).
She went for a walk with her youngest this evening but the eldest has decided absolutely not and has banged on our door and is now involved in a huge water fight with our two boys. Very impromptu.
Everything needs rain just to wash off all the smells. The place we walk the dog when it’s hot. The woods with a brook at the bottom of an urban valley absolutely reek!
Funnily enough, the Welsh valleys is exactly where I smelt it this morning.
Admittedly I did also smell a lot of smoke still, and the massive fire near Ebbw Vale is very much still alight (and very close to the road) but it’s a start.
Hoping the journey home goes better than the way here.
But it’s been an interesting month… the youngest meltdowns have gotten slightly easier, the missus is back walking again (albeit slowly).
I’ve had quite a few compliments on attempting the language out here, so even if I do sound like a child, my grasp of the language has got better which is always good.
Still time to yeet my phone in the lake… which is incredibly tempting. But for now I’ll settle for watching the sun set behind the mountains whilst having some cider.
My 7 y/o daughter just wrapped filming a 6 part BBC series today. It’s been a busy Summer, but seeing just how at home she is in a professional environment has been a revelation.
The way she carried herself, how she spoke with people, how she approached the work and took direction - all alien to me, but she was totally in her element. She is growing into a pretty capable and cool person, proud dad moment!
