You know what really makes me happy?

Planning a bit of Force 5, night navvy, advanced canoe open water leader type shizzle for December.

Got any spares?

Sounds like some weird CFAV black market.

Nothing weird about it. There’s always a market for a valuable resource. Supply and demand.

Thought you were talking about SNCOs. #shotsfired

Ouch!

Def an SNCO I need.

15 new recruits tonight, annoyingly takes us to 48 so will miss our goal of 50 by year end.

70 is the target for next year but will need to get the Fire RA reviewed

Caution.

Just like council tax reviews can end up back firing.

A review of your FRA can lower the number too.

Seen it happen.

Something for the “cheese and Pickle” sandwich brigade… Sorry, the AT crowd.

Mag to Grid is going to be very different…especially if you’re on the south coast…

Has been for years in the South West, obviously the training materials haven’t been updated, but that’s hardly surprising.

They’ll be updated just in time for it to switch back

I’ve barely had to teach mag to grid for years, in fact, to teach it at all, I’ve had to give the kids a fake angle just to check if they’re even doing it right.

In practical terms, I tell them not to bother.

Yeah, same here. For the sake of 1° there’s not much point in adding something else to remember. Especially for lower levels like bronze DofE

Compass totally superfluous at Bronze except for setting the map and even then it’s probably over kill.

A whole degree? Bloody hell!

I have to do mine in minutes these days.

Definitely, but it still gets the kids thinking about nav

They’ll still measure route distances using the romer on the side of the compass… That counts right?

Roamers are more useful for getting the grid references consistent, or up to 8 figs on a 1:25k

Just give em a small ruler
