You know what really makes me happy?

I copied another jacket I bought with it done.

The method was to buy a jacket with knit cuffs, (I went to a charity shop and bought one of those beige old man jackets we’re apparently all doomed to own one day, when I told the shopkeeper my plan, she almost refused to sell it to me!)

I then lopped off the end of the sleeve, with the cuffs still attached, then, instead of stitching the two together all the way around, I stitched them together at say 5-6 points around the circumference, with large gaps in-between.

When the velcro is done up tight, it’s all snug, when I undo the velcro, air can circulate freely up the sleeve.

When I was on my ‘gap year’ looking for pupillage, I too found solace in tailoring my kit. I took a lot of time on my smocks, on my MTP mark one smock I replaced the mesh pocket lining with spare shirt material, added zips to the handwarmer pockets and the knit cuffs.
When I was still in DPM. I modified an arctic smock with a mesh liner on the inside, internal zip pockets and even added zipped up handwarmer pockets.

It was both very therapeutic and stressful. Stitching mesh material is an ■■■■!

Tempted to do the pocket lining next. I hate that mesh. Tempted to rip it out and out a fleece like layer in.

The mesh is dire, particularly the first pattern mesh that was too fine and everything got stuck in it.
There’s a danger however in going too warm with the smock, it lessens your ability to cool down as effectively.

Yeah, that’s a worry. I do have a tendancy to run quite hot as well. Wasn’t a bad thing after being somewhere not so hot at the beginning of the year.
But yeah, on reflection, that might be a step too far. I might just swap the mesh for an old tshirt.

I’d suggest using a spare lightweight jacket, I also added in some pen loops.

I was thinking just a charity shop OG tshirt…

With the energy cost as it is, alot of people in my village aren’t turning their exterior lights on at night.

I was able to sit, in my room… Look out… And just see stars… So little background lighting.

…I forgot how beautiful and relaxing that simple act can be.

Exact opposite in my road. It was Diwali yesterday. Lots of Nepalese so lit up like Christmas.

I took the arm pockets off mine - and in my “summer” jacket removed the lining completely and stitched up the hand warmer pockets. Much cooler summer smock. Added para cuffs to my winter smock, but removed the arm pockets still.

Just had two orders in the space of five minutes.
One for a set of five full size and miniatures, and another for a double.

Makes me happy that I’m getting the orders. But makes me nervous!

Still need to find time to drop my No1s off for ribbons and medal attachment loops

Rapidly running out of space

And what ribbons do you need… I put an order in today, but I’m struggling to get hold of stuff with the strikes. I can do diamond, platty joob and CFM as I’ve got ribbons. Come up on a local parade night and I’ll be able to do it whilst you’re there for a night.

Especially if I’ve got time to prep the ribbon before hand.

I have a ribbon dont worry  drop me a message of best evenings etc

More to do when you can come here. I’m sat up here with my thumb up… I can arrange around you.

Might well send a stable belt loop for No2 trousers your way too, just need to source a pair.

Seeing AW159s getting fully bombed up with their newly acquired wings.

I was reading Fridays paper today…
Kids… say no more.

Anyway it was describing the positioning of American tactical nukes into NATO Countries.

I particually liked the ‘dial a yield capability’.

Press 2 to wipe out an airfield

Just seen the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch today.

As an engineer, it amazes me watching two boosters, landing on a pad, completely autonomously.
