Would be interested in the next one. Away this weekend.
Potentially Octā¦need to check the diary this week
Just spent the day at a local community event, all the cadets forces in attendance and each brought along a challenge for everyone to take part in. We (the Air Cadets) brought compressed air rockets and ,(thankfully) won that challenge, although the Fire Cadets came a close second after they nicked my demo rocket and passed it off as their own.
It was a great day and particularly so for interesting with the other cadets.
Points for ingenuity?
well the probl lay in their inability to lie. when asked by the judges about certain design decisions and how they built it they couldnāt answer. lol.
Iāve got a Link trainer at my squadron. lol
In working order?
Sadly not, One of the staff took it upon themselves (many moons ago) to update it with a screen etc etc and that work has never been finished.
Boscombe Down collection has a couple IIRC. They were also trying to get a PC based sim into a cockpit when I was last there (but that was about 6 years ago)
If you or anyone on your unit decides to try and sort it, and you need any electric/mechanical help, do let me know! Sounds like an interesting project, Iād be happy to help.
LOL everyone at the sqn bar the guy āworkingā on it wants to throw it out (or donate it to somewhere else)
How it works, and the mechanical stuff behind it could make an interesting STEM project!
That is very true.
Iāve got a full scanned copy of the maintainance manual for a D2 Link trainier if it helps.
I would definitely be interested in a copy.
Iāll try to dig it out.
Wasnt there an IBN somewhere, basically saying link trainers arent to be modified etc and only used if still working in original as designed basis.
Or words to that effect.
