Cheeky day off.
Seeing that RHCP tickets go on sale on Tuesday.
Reminder set in the calendar!
Will need to remortgage the house probably!
Going out for a “quick drink” after work at 1700 and getting home at 2330…
Those always turn into the best nights out!
By rule, if someone also includes a measure in it… e.g… “fancy a quick half” or “just a glass”… that’s a red flag to take some paracetamol before hand!
The simple things make me happy, getting a 12 pack of US imported Mountain dew
I’ll bump this… but standing tickets brought
Next June is gonna be a fun month! Royal Ascot - RCHP - Foo Fighters
I saw your post and have now just bought tickets. It’s been about 20 years since I saw them live. Very excited Yay!!!
Recruitment night 2 months ago; 20 new joiners. Retained 95% of them through first class training.
Another recruitment night in a short while, not even advertised publicly and already another 15 interested.
Our numbers recovering nicely.
Whats the secret? Struggling to get any interest for our village squadron, despite banging the drum in local press, active social media, local school sending bulletins to parents etc. We are having a nightmare.
Honestly, no secret. Just good word of mouth and have always been a fairly large unit so always get a drip feed of interest, even through lockdown.
That and we’re lucky, I guess.
Additional MMH; seeing lots of Tutors airborne from Cranwell, Wittering, Woodvale, Boscombe, and St Athan. Seems the Tutors have been fixed.
You need to actually get into the School Assemblies, a decent presentation is worth it’s weight in gold.
We struggle with this since the school have changed to a house system and the year groups are all muddled. And they are not keen on having us in anymore as they have a schedule of assemblies. So for years we did do the Year 8s and got our intake that way.
We are hoping to jump in on parents evening, but this might be virtual again this year, which is no good to us!
We used Facebook ads to recruit. It cost us around £30, but we have gained approx. 15 new cadets because of it, which is about the max we can fit in our small building with our existing cadets. It worked well for us and was a ‘low effort’ solution once it was set up right. 90% of the enquiries were from parents, so I’d aim it at that age range. Sharing the post to local community Facebook groups also helps.
We used this image for the post, which I’m happy for anyone to steal. It’s essentially a new version of the poster that’s been around for ages.
Other squadrons by me have had success in making a Facebook post advertising an open evening, where cadets and parents can see what you’re about.
this is how i was recruited many decades ago.
the whole parade night was converted into an open evening. each classroom had a different “theme” of training on offer with corners of the main hall having different topics on offer too.
break became a tea and biscuits affair for the parents. i remember it being very informal, no grand speech by the OC or special welcome, very much an open door policy, come and go as you please with Staff on hand to answer any difficult questions.
it worked for me and the 15 or so recruits i was part of
We found assemblies never worked but we got allowed to do a stall at lunchtime in the school entrance. They made a few announcements and we got a better response
This is what we do, albeit with a more guided format.
Lets parents and potential cadets see what we do, puts everything into context - but only works if you get the interest in the first place!
When you ask Capita to do something. And they do it right. First time.
And then you woke up?
