You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

The people who think the mask rule is tantamount to tyranny.

It’s just a piece of cloth you have to wear when inside a shop. It’s a bit uncomfortable sure and as a glasses wearer it fogs up the lenses but it’s a damn sight better than having a ventilator tube down my throat or spreading a deadly virus.

All these people banging on about the blitz spirit, do your bit and wear a bloody mask.

I’m not sure a bloody mask will be very good for disease control. You want a clean one.
I’m waiting for the first cadet/ CFAV to show up in one of these

Guessing it is something the uniform police need to be thinking about though.

No, it really isn’t.

Do you have a link for where I can buy one… :eyes: :eyes:

I know for a fact that there will be people in the corps who are currently cutting up light blue shirts and mtp shirts so they can have matching face masks to the uniform they are wearing.

If we’re stuck with this for the long term I would argue it is. Even if it’s just a case of saying “Any face mask is suitable for wear with RAFAC uniform.” We all know that there will be some throbber out there who makes a cadet or member of staff take a mask off if it’s not in the book.

Ha ha - you wait for a couple more decades to be added on, & then see the difference!

The last 15 -20 yrs has seen (maybe not so much for CFAVs / cadets) a worrying trend of “me, me, me” amongst the younger generation requiring instant “approval” or social media likes - but with less & less workload / positive input from the persons concerned. Similarly, the “jumping on the latest political / social / whatever fad bandwagon” without looking at the background or wider implications, just shows how shallow some of the thinking is.

I’ve seen it on FacePalm or InstaRubbish so it must be true…

Harrumph!!! :rage:

It already does in the recovery document.

My mistake.

Military humour page on Facebook

Why can i cancel my EE contact and start a new one and not be forced to upgrade.

Upgrading is more expensive than a new contract.

My GF is on ee and always has to muck about with transferring the existing contract number to an o2 sim for 24 hours then transferring back on to her new ee contract. They wont allow her to transfer the number from ee direct to ee…its bazar!

You are Teflon and I clam my £5!

I think expecting a colour match to uniform will have as much clout as the regs have about watches and sunglasses.

in both cases (and I para-phrase here) indicate “descreet in design and colour” but as sure as the grass in green and sky is blue there will be someone on a day trip to Cosford airshow, or a summer camp in bright neon framed sunglasses/something overly sparkled, or wearing a watch with a face larger than the saucer used for my elevenses tea and biscuit in the officer’s mess.

I get the point your rausing, but people don’t police watches or sunglasses and with the latter at least, we’d much rather Cadets wear them when the situation justifies it, than go without

are we seriously going to suggest that face masks can only x, y or z colour/pattern and turn cadets away if they have a a or b pattern??

providing it is functional I can’t see how we have a leg to stand on unless the MOD start issuing them…

You’ve not met my WO, have you? He is still grumbling about the time, several years ago, when I gave the OK for a female cadet to wear blue rimmed, mirrored, aviator glasses on a camp we ran on one of the sunniest weekends of the year…

no I don’t think I have…and I am sorry to hear you’ve had dealings with such a throbber.

I am a regular at RIAT and with 800 cadets on site it is inevitable there will be numerous examples which don’t comply - no one even bats an eyelid, not that they should. the line in the AP is pointless - well no, I know why it is there, but foolish to expect it to be enforce by any but the most keen

He’s actually quite a decent chap, I just think he takes the uniform regs a bit too literally, and a bit too seriously - which would be the danger about describing the type of masks we permit, I guess.

Solution to your potential problem:

If masks are made mandatory within a Sqn and your WO grumbles for any reason, try this in order to focus his mind;

Step 1: place your left hand in the centre of his chest
.
Step 2: take hold of said WO’s mask between the finger and thumb of your right hand.

Step 3: whilst restricting forward movement of said WO with your left hand, pull back mask towards you with your right hand.

Step 4: when at limit of the retaining strap elasticity, let go of mask.

Step 6: bask in the sound of the loud ‘THWOCK’ and the associated squeal as mask smacks said WO.
