When you search the term “Flt Sgt” in AP818…there are zero results…
And if you search it I historical RAF contexts, it’s everywhere…?
What it probably is…
When performing fight drill its unconventional for the flight NCO IC to be a Warrant Officer, usually a FS.
So the command for them to take over will be to call the FS
And someone’s mashed the 2 separate abbreviations together many moons ago whilst writing parade orders
I believe it is to standardise abbreviations across the forces e.g. PO was used fot pilot officer and petty officer. Now PO only should only mean petty officer and not pilot officer.
I’d much prefer Poff, Floff, and Flieu (“Fleff”), Ser (just to be confusing), Flerr, and Woff.
The fact that the ACF still use personal email addresses!!!
I wear an RBL hat and try to coordinate a dozen or more ACF and ATC units to attend an event. the ATC is straight forward email format is a treat.
the ACF is joe.bloogs@yahoo.com/btinternet.com/hotmail.co.uk or name123@armymail.org
fine if i know who to contact but they seem to move their COs round like i change the bed clothes!
Sorry Steve I am no longer the CO of Anytown Detachment, it is now SSI John Smith who I copy in…
why is it so difficult to get in touch with the right person first time?
It’s GMG that the film award season is upon us and we have got the “not enough diversity” nonsense is being touted. I recall it at the Oscars a few years back, loads of whingeing about a “lack of diversity” and the following year IMO it seemed to have been skewed the other way, which could easily spawn arguments to the opposite, that you only got it because you ticked one of the diversity boxes. But we can’t say that, can we? If you’re good enough you get it and if you’re not you don’t and don’t try and look for excuses based on some diversity criteria you may or may not fill. I can’t think I’ve ever gone to see a film because it’s cast and or crew ticks diversity boxes as I don’t see that it affects the film.
Amazon Repair Centre!
My Missus headphones I bought her for Christmas have broken, Amazon repair centre are coming up with some BS that it’s not covered by the Warranty so will cost £130 to fix.
Firstly the prat on the phone clearly hasn’t even looked at them as he was talking about buttons, they don’t have any buttons and secondly they only cost £80 to start with!
Have a word with The Repair Shop people on TV.
I’m waiting for someone to go in with a piece of knackered electronics or modern ephemera for them to fix, rather than just throw it away.
Why oh why is it so difficult to get in touch with the Army??
It doesn’t matter if it is ACF or the regulars?!
They don’t have “contact us” options on their digital footprints.
In fairness at least the ACF contacts I do have are decent enough to indicate they are no longer in Command of Anytown Detachment and copy in their successor. but is frustrating that there isn’t eh @aircadets.org email format we have to keep in touch with ACF Detachments
But the contacts I have for the local Army Barracks (Regiment OC, his 2IC and Adj, plus Regiment WO) have out of office on and indicate messages along the lines of

My ferry to Jersey being moved from 11am…to 630am meaning a 3am alarm
Cant decide if that’s a #firstworldproblem or a #thirdworldproblem ???
Both, First out, third in.
I have family from Jersey. I know they’d be saying if your pockets aren’t deep enough to fly there, you shouldn’t be going…
HQACs pockets arent deep enough to be fair I live closer to the ferry port than the airport so I really dont mind going by ferry. Just the alarm will be painful
Just had this shared with me via work… you need to listen to it all, somehow it manages to get continually worse!!

ACP 50:
All Cadets to be supervised on the range and this must be shown in all photographs taken
HQAC:
Yes, the subject may not be a cadet. But there’s nothing to suggest they aren’t.
See also a similar shot in the new safeguarding training.
I thought the guidance was there must be an instructor or the targets in the shot.
nope, what @Squirrel has posted is it.
Shooting.
(1) All Cadets to be supervised on the range and this must be shown in all photographs taken.
(2) Cadets must wear long sleeve shirts fastened at the wrist.
(3) Berets if worn must not interfere with ear defenders, ie not under the cups of the ear defenders.
