Use cadet portal or lose out is the mindset we are using
So it seems people are applying the same low life tactics employed by HQAC to make people use âBaderâ, with threatening action. In some quarters that would be called bullying.
Iâve not been overly fussed if cadets use it or not and believe me I have more important things to do than monitor it and then apply strong arm measures to get them to do it.
I know this wonât go down well ⌠ho hum.
My cadets have a choice to not use it⌠but will be unable to bid for any events.
Iâm using the tools available to reduce my admin burden.
These young people need to learn to adapt to change and new technology otherwise they will get left behind at all stages of life.
There wonât be many young people adapting to the technology, itâll be the stone age people who still believe in caningâŚ
Weâve taken the same approach that as of the start of this year, itâs all on the portal. Fingers crossed should make all of our lives easier!
Some of us prefer to support the cadets and offer them opportunities, regardless of a small additional admin load to do so. That is why I am encouraging the use of the portal but will not be ignoring those who cannot or will not use it.
Cannot use will receive assistance (Squadron iT is available for example), Will not use are going to be encouraged to use or they will miss out.
Seems like the way forward.I think most cadets are pretty tech savvy.A little bit of help wont be so hard to provide.Once they understand it im sure the take up will increase.
I mean, in most places (work, shops, car parks, banksâŚ) itâs a case of âthis is the way things work, this is the process, this is what you need to do.â
For us, itâs no different to âif you donât write your name on the sheet on the wall you wonât goâ. Itâs a different process with the same effect for the cadets and same ramifications if they donât comply.
Seems strange reading that.
My experience is the opposite. Itâs the older generation who hate change and any attempt to improve the status quo.
The evidence is in this forum.
F/S
Flt Sgt
F/L
S/L
I didnât realise abbreviations were so difficult itâs FS , Flt Lt and Sqn Ldr
They are. But letâs be honest, that doesnât make sense.
Why do we abbreviate flight two different ways?
âŚAnd Sergeant.
Does it really matter in the grand scheme?
People can obviously work out what they mean.
Yeah, FS is the abbreviation that needs to die.
And create WarOff
Why stop there?
My rank becomes F Off.
I make a point of using that version (only to describe myself, mind).
Because a Flt Sgt is a parade term, and a FS is a rank.
