You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

I still don’t know where that lightweight jacket is and I actually need it today.

Notice recently put on SharePoint regrading PME and Remembrance parades saying that you need six weeks leading for clearance five weeks before the deadline.

When you click see more…does it actually allow you to see more or am I waiting to see the same as it’s not working

“Dear Mr Policeman-Officer,
We’re in attendance for remembrance parade as has happened yearly for the past 50+ years in the town. This event has always been attended by uniformed members and the town council usually organises it with you or one of your PCSO’s blocking off roads. Can I now please have authorisation?
Warmest regards,
Air Cadet Officer very low down the foodchain”.

Personally I’ve never seen the point of a PME for Remembrance Parade - literally now using a form for something which has been happening for longer than most of us have been alive…

In our County they don’t do PME’s for Remembrance Day, they just have a spreadsheet of all the Parades from the organisers.

Several forces no longer Police Remembrance Parades as they have pointed out that it’s not there job!

we’ve not had a Police presence at our village parade in 12+ years. I always took this to be down to a lack of available resource.

As a Parade Organiser i email the local “cop shop” with the same details and get an email back “thank you, your event is added to our list” - or words to that effect. It (the process) doesn’t seem to offer any kind of reassurance that anything is being done which justifies the process.

Traffic Control for Public Events isn’t the Polices responsibility, in the olden days they did it anyway but in more modern times they have started telling organisers to do it properly and get a TMO through the Council.

Merseyside police had roving patrols of armed officers at last years plus officers in the parade and many others on patrol at the main parade closing roads etc in Liverpool City centre.

The protection of a Parade (Counter-Terror Threat) etc is very different as that is the responsibility of the Police. But Road Closures etc should be a company hired in and the road closure should go through the Council.

In Liverpool for the main parade it’s always a police duty and always has been.

I suspect most major cities will be the same, doesn’t mean it’s right.

The big one, what power do the Police have to direct Traffic outside of an emergency? (The answer is none).

When your 2 days too young to go flying but when you are now old enough it gets cancelled because of weather. Let’s hope the weekend is good weather…

1- road closure applications can only go through the local council
2 - Remembrance is a Civic Parade and thus the responsibility of the local Council - ie not through the council, is [should be] organised by the council

Can this quote go up the chain and then down again so we don’t have to complete a PME for anything organised by the council?

it could - but you still need a PME - according to the flow chart you need to check that the authority has applied themselves…

You’ll get used to that in aviation
There’ll be another time soon.

Everything’s ready for my upcoming fieldcraft exercise, and the espresso machine is primed and ready to go - but the chocolate duster I’ve ordered from Amazon won’t arrive until after the exercise.

That’s not living in the field RAF-style!

The old apocraphal story about the MoD survey.

They ask a soldier what would they do if they found a scorpion in their tent, stamp on it was the reply, same question to a marine, rip off the sting and eat it came the reply, then they asked the RAF guy, I’d ring room service and ask why there was a tent in my room.

All about being comfortable.

The ATC is not an airline or bus company. The next flying detail could be at least 6 months away if you’re back to back lottery jackpot win lucky.

That was 2 months ago but I’m flying this weekend at least my first time

Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:
