You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Implying that he deserves any form of acknowledgement just for that.

Not saying that it’s not an “honourable” thing to be, but I’ve spent 3/4 of my service either drunk, complaining or just downright miserable.

I have nothing against veterans at all, absolutely nothing. But being a Vet in no way gives you an excuse for being a… well… something about seeing them a following Tuesday…

I would’ve probably ended up in a stand up row in which the C word featured heavily if I had been present :joy:

“Cadet”… yes, I would have used that too!

Or paracetamol…

Arguing with Americans over healthcare. Just dealt with one who thought the people moaning were to blame for not simply buying insurance when most can’t afford it or the insurers bury them in lawyers to avoid paying out. He said “I’d rather have freedom than free healthcare”. I had to point out that the US ranks below the UK on both freedom and healthcare. The NHS has problems, but please let’s not go to an insurance based system.

Get this…
My Dad ispent the first 20 odd years of his life the USA

He raves about the NHS which he uses in his old age but when following the 2020 presidential election Bernie Sanders suggestion of bringing in a NHS style system is the “worst thing that could happen to the USA” . It’s simply because hes a trump advocate, unfortunatley.

Trump supporters scare me. I went to a rally when visiting my Dad to see what it was all about and it really did feel like I was at a Nazi party rally (and I don’t like throwing that around or resorting to Godwin’s law). Swastika flags flying everywhere, racist language. I personally got an earful of anti-semitic abuse from those who thought I looked a bit Jewish (I have darkish skin and curly black hair but no Jewish DNA).
My Dad spends half his time in Florida. He has healthcare insurance but for anything other than emergencies it’s cheaper for him to book a flight back to the UK and use the NHS. That is ridiculous.

Yeah it’s crazy. A few years ago I was headhunter by Home Depot to go work over there but with they wouldn’t build medical into the package so I was substantially worst off.

It would appear Justin Trudeau wore dark make up for a themed do 20 years ago and now has been made to feel that he should apologise. Why?
Have we become so thin-skinned that if we said or did something years ago that now may be regarded as not quite right, we have to apologise in case some even thinner skinned get upset. You’d bet good money that he did it and at the time no one got bothered about it and saw it in context, ie it was a themed party and he went along with the theme.

easy - he’s got an election coming up.

what is the betting that his rivals have had this photo for months and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to smear his campaign???

Also direct or indirect racism still wasnt OK 20 years ago…

That comment was clearly written by someone who’s still in the mindset that “twenty years ago” was 1964.

The funny bit is that Trump actually ran in 2000 on a platform of universal healthcare.

His dad is the Trump advocate, not Sanders!

There is no left wing in American Politics, just right wing & really right wing.

Bernie isn’t really a Democrat though. He’s just running as one because there’s no chance of an independent being elected unless their name is ‘George Washington.’

Even then I wouldn’t rate his chances.
