You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

i don’t hate that - it is clear what the route is - contact you after the date

what i dislike is offering me a plan B (someone else to contact) only for them to be just as hopeless.

“if urgent contact Joe”

i contact Joe

“thanks for your email I am out until…”

what is the point?!?!

HMRC

Email notification of a Tax Code change, but the portal shows my last change was in Jan, so I’m on hold trying to ensure that my March pay that includes my annual bonus doesn’t get treated as Month 1 and I have to wait 6+ Months for a tax refund as I have in previous years.

Edit: Panic over it’s the 26/27 Tax Code, but this is super unclear in the email & app & online

Just because you’re up north doesn’t mean you need to fight everyone!

online booking forms

in the past month i have used a car dealers online booking form, as when calling up to make my booking, i was encouraged to “if you are calling to make a booking, why not use our online booking system”

i duly did so, used the calendar which showed availability, picked a date which matched my convenience and hit “book” only to get a call the following day "sorry that date is not available

Yesterday Mrs Steve used an online booking form at lunchtime which showed availability for a meal out tonight…
email this morning “sorry we’re fully booked for the date and time of your request and so have cancelled the booking”

I had the same with Autowindscreens. Booked the first afternoon slot online as I was busy in the morning only to get a text the day before saying see you at 10:10am tomorrow! Phoned to no avail - can’t change it now as I’ve sent all the text messages out! Grrr!

This:

Nothing spoils your Thursday more… than realising it’s only Tuesday.

This week is dragging.

Kilts:

£800 for one kilt, Rabbie burns would burn Glasgow down if he saw that price.

Unrelated note:

Glasgow Central is closed due to fire

I got mine from Dumfries - Andersons Kilts. You don’t pay the big city tourist premium. Tjink I payd around £450 for campbell tartan 8 yd

I got mine on eBay. But I’m lucky, my grandfather’s tartan is Gordon, so was a surplus item.

No hot water since last night. And the French being French, I don’t see it being fixed until Tuesday!

As expected, still not fixed. We briefly had some hot last night. But back to cold. I freezing shower at 0630 really is not the one.

The disadvantage of whole building hot water I guess. I can’t just get it sorted my self. Even my landlord was like: :man_shrugging: it’s france, they probably won’t fix it until after the holiday weekend :joy:

Back at home for a few weeks and thought i’d go to the gym today, asked for a week pass and was told the new owners dont do them, It’s either a £29/m DD, or £9/d

Absolute lunacy
