You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Thats probably because they see regulars doing it and copy.

There is currently a SM post from the RAF Police with an individual wearing a poppy with a GPJ. Clearly it is ok, even if it isnt shown in the dress regulations, otherwise why share it on your SMs??

Is it really an issue if not on parade?

Strictly speaking, dress regs apply at all times and itā€™s everyoneā€™s duty to maintain standards by calling infringements out; however, Iā€™m never going to criticise someone for wearing a poppy and have not commented on poppy pins being worn with No. 1s, poppies on GPJs, etc.

The Volunteer Portal rebrand. The colour scheme is awful, itā€™s irritating alreadyā€¦ Way too much white, not enough blue. Just keep it how it was.

Obviously SMS hasnā€™t changed, Units hasnā€™t, but does anyone know if Cadet Portal and AMS have gone the same way?

I thought the new layout and stuff was pretty good for VP and Learn!

The colour scheme works better with dark mode too!

I guess. Thereā€™s just not enough contrast on screen, makes it difficult to actually read and divert your eyes to the right place. Not sure it ticks all the accessibility boxes? Unconvinced by our use of the roundel on its own (for mobile) too.

And theyā€™ve removed the app title from being in the header seemingly. But that might have something to do with most of the Units functionality mystically appearing in Volunteer Portal, so I presume that VP will be the ā€œone stop shopā€ once SMS finally gets fully decommissioned. That would be a strong win, in fairness.

With a bit of work it could be good, but it needs some more contrast. (As long as they donā€™t pick the equally silly yellows and greens on the current RAFAC websiteā€¦)

There are accessibility controls if you click the accessibility thing:

You can then change lots of things to make it work best for your eyes!

Yes, that appears on Learn, but unless Iā€™m being silly I canā€™t see an equivalent yet for Volunteer Portal?

Even on Learn, some adjustments (e.g. Dark Contrast) appear to hide the course tracker and cover up some of the textā€¦

I realise that maintaining and upgrading Bader is primarily being done by our fellow volunteers though, their work is appreciated.
But for me at least itā€™s mostly just background colour contrast thatā€™s needed, I never had/have any issues with the GUI format on Units or SMS. If it ainā€™t broke why fix it?

I donā€™t like the red lines on VP. Looks like stuff needs attention, that doesnā€™t.

GMG: Google are being proper dodgy [appropriate expletive]s again.

Everything working fine this morning except the one thing I needed: Google Drive. It kept saying I was offline.

Tried changing the DNS, clearing the cache - no luck.

What worked? Disabling the adblocker that Iā€™ve been using without problems for yearsā€¦

I take it youā€™re using a plugin or something to force a site into a Dark Mode, since there is no dark mode setting on VP.

Zoom is absolutely rubbish. That is all.

Yes, I think the plug in is literally called dark mode!

Reviewing the remaining annual leave with my bossā€¦ to discover i had booked last Monday off some time agoā€¦

ā€¦and itā€™s now wednesday.

Leave cancelled and reforecast.

GMG, having to do my EoY review. Its boring.

The manager of the site I work at reviewed my annual leave and keeps informing me I have 9 days left to take before 25th Dec.
I know Iā€™ve only got one .
Do I take him at his word and take the holidays, and then see what MY boss (at a different site) says, or just own up to his mistake.

I use Dark Reader (https://darkreader.org/) and it works great on the whole Bader ecosystem from what Iā€™ve seen. Also works pretty well on things like google docs and most website tbh, though it will mess if there is a background image or something.

Get it in writting, then take it.
They cant take it back if youve been issued it in writting.

He has actually e-mailed me it !!

Iā€™d take the days, if heā€™s told you that they need takingā€¦ You must have miscalculated your own leave!
