You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Just gathering some evidence. But am going to try to use the CoC first… There’s a new WAvO and I suspect they’re going to say “because we’ve always done it that way”, but let’s see.

we have had a requirement for Staff escort names in advance and contact details, but i put this down to our WgAvO being decent and wanting direct contact should a Canx call be issued last minute - never needed names in advance although there is an SMS created which I guess Wing can take a look at?

There’s a super version?!

Back to the point though, remember when you mentioned transparency in comms - another case I think where it would be helpful (i.e. why!). I remember just rocking up on the day, no advanced notice so why the change?

Fair enough if Boscombe has changed this year, but pretty sure it’s always been 48hrs in advance for us direct to the flying unit ?

Boscombe is due to the security requirements with their security team.

So sad news about the blades

Has anyone else been having more constant/frequent 500 Internal Server Errors recently on parade evenings?

Yes.

Bader is a sack of…

Yeah I have too… Annoying

Ah but computers need time to themselves to relax as well - all part of the new caring sharing RAFAC

Yep Bader is becoming unusable on parade nights for us

2020 flashbacks in Batfink’s cave today.

Secondary school has closed for Year 7/8/9. But they have set a very large amount of “virtual learning” - so now we’re back to Batfink doing home schooling for the day…

Work are not impressed. The kids are not impressed either. I’m not entirely sure I’m impressed either.

BUT. I’m not blaming the teachers for today.

it bothers me more than it should that the CBAT IBN has “Air Training Corp”

Why should Air Training Corps bother you?

Because it’s missing the ‘s’ from the end of Corps?

The one that annoys me is people pronouncing Corps as Corpse…

GMG. It’s new laptop day at work!!! I’ve been around long enough that I’ve qualified for a corporate sponsored replacement. It should be a happy day… but it’s not.

  1. despite assurances from IT that my “profile” is linked, and everything will seemlessly migrate, it hasn’t.
  2. I’ve just had to individually rebuild my favourites.
  3. All my saved passwords have been lost and they didn’t migrate my password saver software
  4. The “delete” button has been replaced by a power button - so I keep putting the laptop in standby.
  5. There’s no VGA connection… so now I need a new docking station and HDMI cables to make my monitors work
  6. I’ve gone from 17" to 15" because “17” isn’t standard for corporate replacements". This wasn’t what you said 2 weeks ago when I was assured of a “like to like” replacement.
  7. MS Access has been “desupported” by IT - I need to raise a business case to have it reinstalled. The same business case I made 7 years ago when I needed it.
  8. I’ve just had to add my email footer as, apparently, that should be “attached to my profile when i log in”. Nope.
  9. I’ve just lost half a day of actual work trying to get everything setup following my “seamless migration”.
  10. ARGH.

To be fair, VGA is ancient history. It would be easier to make the business case for new monitors
