I would go with this too. I use my Post nominal because I was sick & tired of other treating me as if I didn’t know what I was talking about & was a bit thick.
However I would only use the highest/most relevant one - there’s no need for twenty odd characters after your name or a list of qualification & roles (e.g. Sgt A Smith, BA, LCGI, MILM, ML(Snow) DI(Arms)).
There’s nothing wrong with being proud of your professional qualifications, just don’t over state them. As always it’s a balance.
Having seen some of the rubbish that comes out from above I am hardly surprised. I apply the “how to spot spams and scams” criteria! I still have my “Guide to Service Writing” booklet (Roneod by the look of it) and still refer to it (very) occasionally.
I remember a parent who was a regular serviceman (not in holy orders) wrote to my RC and signed off “Yours in Christ”. RC was not impressed, said words to the effect that he hadn’t put any credence in the complaint in the first place, but even less when he had seen the sign off!
GMG-Test emails again. I think I might just unsubscribe from SharePoint annanoncement at this point Seem to get more test emails than actual communication!
Didn’t go to a larger remembrance parade yesterday to reduce the risk of being seen by work management in uniform while I’m off sick, went to a smaller church service nearer my house instead.
GMG. My useful point of contact at the Home Office has taken a promotion and is moving to a different team. I’ve asked if they have a replacement I could contact instead; their response was a phone call because he didn’t want to commit it to an email - itself very telling. But it sounds like things are not going well at the Home Office at the moment.
Having worked there I agree it’s not fit for purpose. Should be split into two or three full ministerial departments. The organic growth had also led to a highly illogical team structure with overlapping areas of responsibility between teams who don’t even know the other exists.
It would be a gargantuan task but really they need to rebuild it from scratch.
Same goes for the Treasury. Should really be separate finance and economy ministries rather than one gargantuan department that dominates everything else.
GMG. When there’s a big flashing bar across the top of ALL external emails saying “PLEASE BE AWARE, THIS IS AN EXTERNAL EMAIL - THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU CLICK THE LINK”. But some mug somewhere thought “No. I believe this email from Col Gadaffi’s lawyer to be legit” and clicks the link. And accidentally caused a meltdown and security breach.
In good news, ICT did isolate it really quickly and resolve the issues.
In far less good news, EVERYBODY has got to do a new IT Security training package between now and January 2023. Even though I only did mine in October.
ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Edited to add. No they don’t!!! Exemption lodged. Sense, logic and reasoning win!! Anybody in the last 12 months will be exempt!!
GMG. People not updating Westminster in a timely fashion or at all. I don’t expect things to be done same day, but you can’t screw around with subject passes or WHT records.
Been one of those days which started with an annoyance, moved on to several frustrating things, a really disappointing thing and then my daughter turning more and more into a bully to top it all off.
Sometimes I have sympathy with those who fake their own death and disappear to a fishing boat in the Caribbean <\rant>
