You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

As I understand it even RAFAC teams marching as Civvie teams and not part of BMC were not allowed to march on day 2 as CAC ordered a halt to all cadet participation on day 2

Itā€™s refreshing to get a genuine apology for a genuine mistake.

Hopefully you wonā€™t take all of the ā€œrah :rage: ā€œ personally, people just need to vent at times.

Out of interest is there any official feedback to the Command Board when Cadets/Parents/Staff have a wobbly like that?

ā€œinfluence teamā€ ā€¦ I do hope this isnā€™t the start of a plummet into the shady world of those who dupe the gullible on social media.

So, perhaps you can help with this question thatā€™s been asked here before:
Who is the sm for? Is it aimed at existing cadets, staff and parents, or is it aimed at prospective cadets?
If itā€™s both, how do you balance it?

Please donā€™t think of this as a dig, it really isnā€™t, genuinely curious and intrigued by the answer.

Annual plan holders now paying Ā£16 / 20% more

Monthly plan holders paying Ā£12 / 12.5% more.

When I first signed up I donā€™t think there was a monthly option, but this increase is seeing me cancel the annual plan and May then use monthly ad hoc.

Definitely some multivariate testing going on here.

Mine is going up to Ā£8.99 per month.
(Annual was stated as Ā£95)

Yeah, this is the message I got too.

Mine Renews in December, so will review how often I use it.

Whoever made the accounts 4 form has a place reserved in Hell. Rather than putting an easily editable table in, theyā€™ve individually added text boxes over the table so you canā€™t switch or tab between columns, you canā€™t click once to edit text and to remove anything is a huge pain.

And the form appears to be locked so I canā€™t even edit it and insert my own table.

It was designed in Office 95 and then just converted rather than being scrapped & re written.

Lots of mod forms are frustratingly like this

That is a really poor reason. If I thought it would do any good I would offer just to remake it for them but I know it wouldnā€™t be accepted or used and it would be wasted.

One of the Byzantine issues is that the poorly designed form is often then designed to be fed into a custom scanning system to upload the information. I wouldnt be surprised if this is the case in this situation.

The custom program is normally individually written for the specific form design & doesnā€™t work if the form changes. Itā€™s really simple to change the form but really expensive to change the program.

You have a sunk cost fallacy & unwillingness to spend to save due to the bespoke program & itā€™s too expensive to replace like for like (which normally change programs prefer over doing something new).

The Accts 1771 is like this, but the protection has no password so you can just remove it.

GPF 002 - insurance form, gets updated and new amendment sent out every year to be completed, so can not just use last years form and amend dates and a few names, all have to be typed in, then the icing on the cake that when you come to fill in the amounts in Ā£??.?? it does not accept anything after decimal point. They copy that issue over from year onto year onto year !!

GMG. Thereā€™s some stuff around the farm I canā€™t do/been avoiding as itā€™s metal work and Iā€™m not confident at doing it - bits of welding and/or fabrication. So I thought Iā€™d look at the local college and see about an intro course to welding.

Ā£300-500 for an 6 week course depending on the college. Not including PPE. Or books.

I think Iā€™ll just carry on avoiding those jobs. Itā€™s been 5 yearsā€¦ Whatā€™s another 5 years.

Do it. My dad used to do that, heā€™d save up all the welding jobs for one go and hire a welder, which cost him a fortune and lacked the flexibility he needed. He did the course and has never looked back.

He actually did the final welds on my GCSE tech project, and I got an A* for that thing.
