You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Learning Greek. I remember now why I hated languages at school.

GMG/MMSad: Iā€™ve just seen via the General Aviation scene that the Earl of Suffolk passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Suddenly the landing fees at Charlton Park Airstrip - was a fantastic final approach - have shot up from Ā£20 to Ā£125! It was always fun calling up for PPR and speaking to the Earl, he loved General Aviation.

GMG first day back in the Office proper since Easter.

Had to wear trousers. And not wear crocs. Felt weird.

On the plus side, wonā€™t have to go in now until November at the earliest! #win

This is definitely a good thing.

How do we get your DBS redone? Your clearly a wrongun.

Iā€™ve had the croc holes sealed up. Stops my dignity leaking out and leaving tell tale footprints.

GMG used car dealers :rage:

Asked for video viewing and not an option so had to go and view. An hour each way and car had multiple severe dents even though was up for top money, total waste of a Sunday afternoon.

Do these guys not care that the way they present the cars reflect on the first impression of their business?

Maybe I just have too high standards :joy:

GMG. I took one days leave. I come back to 114 emails. 100 actually require an action or response from me.

Iā€™ve had a further 33 this morning (which are so far unread) - but will no doubt have similar ratios!

This is why people donā€™t take leave!!!

Told my boss the exact same thing.

Bean counters may like the figures on the spreadsheets but HR can see the turnover rate and not feeling like youā€™ve had any time off within an hour of coming back to work is no use to anyone

I took the German approach with my lot - if people are on leave emails will bounce back.

For the last year my out of office has read:

I am now out of the office until xxxxxxx. Emails sent during this period will be deleted unread. If your query is urgent please forward it to (line manager) who will be happy to assist. If it can wait for my return please resend after xxxxxxxx.

Makes return from leave so much better.

I still do a quick scan for anything from HR/my regulatory body but anything from clients goes in the bin

I love this. Our organisation less so.

The trains this morning.

Trying to install new monitor at work. Of course the ā€˜spareā€™ input on the monitor doesnā€™t match the ā€˜spareā€™ output on the PC.

Paying Stamp Duty at the end of last year, so sandwiched between 2 periods of not having to pay it I stumped up Ā£10K :rage:

I legit dont know what to do about buying my first property now. Not sure how todays going to cause the market to react

Over the lifetime of a mortgage it wonā€™t make much difference - even if it is painful handing over the SD cash.

Years ago I bought a place just below the SD threshold - it was a mistake as for a little more and the SD I would have had a bigger place and saved money down the line.

The last SD holiday did see a rush on investment and holiday let type places but in theory there should be more properties coming to the market. In theory.

Stamp duty can be absorbed by the mortgageā€¦

Property is probably going to be the only thing worth having. Money in back accounts is losing value with inflation. But Iā€™m not a financial advisor.

Just go for it, sooner you buy the sooner your paying the Mortgage the sooner you own more of the property.

Donā€™t worry; nobody listens to them. Well. Kwasi doesnā€™t anyway.

What an absolute shock to the economy today has been! I thought Gove and JRM were the most Tory of the Toryā€™sā€¦ But it might just be Liz and Kwasi.

In other news, what a time to be a Banker!
