WHT and shooting badges

2 questions for yous please

  1. where do you add WHT for L144 test passed. i had a look in sms under all the shooting qualifications but couldnt find it anywhere. Does anybody know where and how to do it?

Secondly anybody have a link or know what is required to achieve each of the blue to gold shooting badges. For example L144 when cadets have done the WHT and passed . What else do they have to do exactly to get their bronze badge such as what live firing etc?

thanks for your help

This is done in Units.
It should be done by the Skills at Arms Instructor that conducted the test, but it can be added by another SAAI if necessary.

Have a search for the Commander’s Guide to Shooting on SharePoint.

I think that still shows the old syllabus, so might need a bit of conversion: colours now map to level rather than rifle.

I’ll see if I can find it later.

Thanks yes thats what i thought.
Im right insaying yes that now its just 1 of each colour
so blue is scorpion rifle
bronze is L144
silver is L98
gold is L81

As i know it use to be blue to gold for every rifle. Personally i think the old marksman badges etc where better when ii was a cadet.

No. This is more along what it used to be.

Now blue is the equivalent of Trained Shot on any rifle.
Bronze is the equivalent of Marksman on any rifle.
Silver is the equivalent of Advanced Marksman on any rifle.
Gold is the equivalent of Competition on any rifle.

The Commanders Guide I was thinking of is pages 1-8 to 1-12 of ACP 18 Vol 3.

There is also a higher level Commanders Guide to Shooting, although that looks slightly dated in places (e.g. I wouldn’t recommend trying to get air rifle training completed in one parade night as of the 2021 changes to AR training).
