What are you watching?

#lastnightoftheproms 2023

Finally got around to watching Black Adam…

Still undecided about it.

Painkiller then Dopesick. Amazing how the opioid crisis took over USA and pushed by one company!

So, I’m parked up in Sainsbury’s Car Park on a Teams Call (coz that’s how I roll) and I’m watching two Sainsbury’s employees trying to compress cardboard boxes into a cage.

Neither has disassembled the boxes for flat packing - they are just jumping up and down on them. Apparently this wasn’t good enough. So the cage, and all the boxes, were then dragged over to a low wall (about 4ft in height) - and they were jumping off the wall on to the boxes to squash them quicker.

And then one of them fell off the wall. And then a manager came out. And then a first aider. And then the manager went and got his car. And then the first aider, the manager, and one of the employees who didn’t look very well at all got in the car and drove off.

And the one that was left??? Climbed straight back on the wall and started jumping off it on to the boxes again.

#facepalm

Sober as it was horrific shown yesterday afternoon on Drama, Escape from Sobibor. The film based on the book by Richard Raske who survived the German death camp in Poland didn’t pull punches at all, and it wasn’t cut from the original film for the time of day it was shown. Over 99% of people sent there were murdered on an industrial scale within hours of arrival.

And some people say it never happened. Lest we forget.

Stared Rutger Hauer and Alan Arkin.

Gonna watch it in 30 mins when I get home

Without wanting to give too much away, Hayden Christensen’s acting skills are somewhat better than they were!

I stand by it was poor directing on Lucas’ part

I don’t think the issue was ever with the actor, but with the dialogue and direction,

Even then and on later viewing people complain that Anakin is whiny and that the dialogue is clunky. Well surely a teenager who has suffered childhood trauma and then fought in a war while being told they are “the chosen one” is going to be arrogant, whiny and tongue tied around girls?

Would love the next series to be ‘Vader’. Hayden stomping his way through the galaxy being horrible to people.

Is it okay to Star Trek lower decks clips in leadership lessons?

Between Picard’s speeches in TNG, the many examples we have of stepping up and of officers doing the right thing and the examples like that one from Lower Decks there are plenty of great options for scenes to put in a leadership course both as examples to emulate and avoid.

I’ve used General Melchett and Moss from the IT crowd before.

I can second Blackadder and I’ve used Band Of Brothers as well (attack on Bastogne where Dyke freezes, Winters wants to charge in himself, but then sends Speirs in).
