JCS just released their first video in over 4 years. Here was me thinking I had managed to get true-crime documentaries out of my algorithm!
Person of Interest got dropped from Amazon about 6 months ago. Which upset me as I had properly got into it and was mid season 4.
But tonight we discovered it’s back on Channel 5! Woohoo!

Just started watching The Bondsman on Prime.
Not what I was expecting, started watching it without reading any synopsis, mostly because it has Kevin Bacon in, but enjoying it so far.
Not sure if this should be what I’m watching, or what I’m listening to.

Yes and I’d say it’s worth watching for the achievement of each episode being filmed in a single take, which is quite amazing given the dynamic changes of setting in some episodes. Also keep in mind that’s it’s fiction and not a documentary. Oh, and don’t expect a police procedural or courtroom drama: it’s neither (and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing).
Finished it tonight. As the father of a young boy I found it extremely powerful / scary in equal measure.
It’s amazing. The amount of tension they generate from mundane police procedure and the one-shot element is great.
And while it isn’t a documentary, it draws attention to a very real societal problem.
Significant numbers of young men (and young boys) are getting advice from the likes of Andrew Tate and the effect it has on how they view female peers and authority figures is quite shocking if you’re not familiar with this particular development.
Studies have demonstrated that the “up next” feature of YouTube winds up belt-feeding users these harmful messages no matter where they start, and so it’s something for us to be aware of as youth leaders.
I don’t want to get into spoiler territory, but that was only one part of the story. There were other reasons as well and, personally, I think part of the intended message was that there aren’t simple explanations.
In the real world, of course, most knife crime is gang-related: but that is also a simplification.
