We used to get that, annoyingly fairly frequently. Turns out that whilst we still had power, the pumping station didn’t.
Had no power last night - went off at 1700, back on at 0230. Not the most thrilling evening!
Pah - obviously not around in 1972 / 1974 for the power cuts then!
Didn’t get much, if any, dispensation for not doing homework either!

Junction 43 of the M4 and the area surrounding it including a Harvester pub and a hotel are still without power.
Considering most food in a harvester is served stone cold regardless of the order I assume they are continuing as business as normal….

Hottest day of the year a few years back - we were sat having breakfast at a Farm Shop near Chippenham (Nr Jn17) - about to drive to The Gower to go camping…
