But I appreciate the humour on this one. On the flip side, some staff seem to have an insatiable desire to go around marking things OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE.
I’ve even seen joining instructions on an SMS activity marked up at OS and unticked so cadets cannot see them on Cadet Portal — sheer lunacy!
The overwhelming majority of sensitive information in the RAFAC will be “OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE PERSONAL”, which we might expect managing personnel records, this marking should also be appended to the file name with “-OSP”. We should not be going around marking information “OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE” because we think it is special or important or to feel like an international superspy. I think the only publication ACP marked OS is to do with shooty bangstick material and even that isn’t marked correctly iaw JSP440.
Even worse, marking everything “OFFICIAL” or adding a -O at the end of files; this isn’t a thing anymore and hasn’t been since 2014.
On topic… if we are looking to mirror OneDrive and SharePoint information to squadron built IT systems, I suggest don’t. It is usually near impossible to justify holding OS information on non-MOD computer systems. Personal information is a separate accreditation process and should not be stored on squadron computers (outside the secure environment) period.
Although I hear that a damp bus stop can store up to SECRET if you’re a senior official in MOD.
So an update to this. Cadets do not have full access to SharePoint via their cadet portal logins. However, if you link them directly to the training hub then they can log in and access all the training materials and everything else within the training hub!
@james_elliott would it be worth having a separate link on the Bader landing site that goes direct to the training hub for cadets to use? Or a link within Cadet Portal?
@anon59391077 This ability that cadets can access the training portal doesn’t seem to be very widely advertised? Surely this is worth an announcement to let all staff and cadets know of this ability. It should then hopefully mean everyone is teaching to the correct/most up to date materials.
It’s possibly a workaround to allow certain scenarios to occur. Thing that concerns me is it gives cadets access to certain templates that they shouldn’t have access to.
They don’t get full access as such as if documents are referenced back to the main document library then those permissions take precedence. This was the first thing I tested. Got a cadet to go to the shooting portal and click the link to the ACP about weapons movement and it said access denied. For once it seems someone had actually thought about this!
I was trying to be a bit abstract but cadets can download certificate templates and put their own names on them, because they all exist in training portal.
Anything on ‘old’ / ‘interim’ portal is inaccessible unless via anonymous links.
Most of those sort of templates can be found online anyway and let’s be brutally honest most of them aren’t worth the paper they are printed on besides the sense of personally achievement anyway.
