UK Digital ID discussion

More modern policy is to digitally download your phone and return the device

I’ve never known that to happen quickly.

Or, as happened for a Wg Shoot at Honington, gate guard asked for cadets’ IDs. First time that had happened!

Ah, scheduled maintenance on Bader!

Which is great provided they don’t accidentally brick the device which is what our local force was doing for a bit (in some cases destroying evidence)

Easy solution to that - don’t be.

Doesn’t everyone have a burner 'phone?

If this comes in, I’ll certainly be carrying a spare phone with a dead battery.

You only need it in day 1 of a job as it stands though right…

I went to a search for NCA, and they did the triage at the house and did the forensic downloads before they left.

It’s a waste of time and money. The black economy will continue to function regardless. It’s a load of political garbage.

Saw this…

BBC News - Swiss voters narrowly approve plan for electronic ID cards

email isn’t difficult - everyone who claims benefits needs one, pretty much anyone working has to have one to apply for a job. Most school kids have one. Sorted

I guess it’s a postcode lottery as to who has what tech (or knows what they’re doing).

Kinda, every force does everything differently,

Sometimes differently in the same force - the old saying is that with the police you have 43 forces doing things in 52 ways.

Sounds familiar. 36 wings doing things 50 different ways…

There list kinda goes :-

The way the Force does it
The way the force should do it
The way the force used to do it
The way the college of policing insists forces do it
The way the college of policing used to say to do it
The way that the college of policing should advise on how to do it but doesn’t.
The way someone wants to do it.

So what’s our equivalent?

The way the wing actually does it.
The way the wing used to do it.
The way OC wing wants it done.
The way the RC wants it done.
The way HQ thinks we do it.

And they’re all different!

You missed out the ACP vs IBN vs some random email aspect.

“The way HQ thinks we do it” could really be split into 6 different categories!
