Trump's Second Term Chat

That was terribly disappointing.

The stakes were so high.

So the markets haven’t actually good crazy over this at all. They’re generally down, but only by a very small amount. Nothing compared to the last time Trump went mad on tariffs.

TACO?

I do wonder if that’s what the markets are thinking. That it’s a storm in a tea cup, so not worth the sell-off.

I’m at an investment conference tomorrow, I’ll let you know if there’s any views!

That should be interesting indeed, given what’s going on.

I’m only down about 1.5% today, which sounds like loads, but I have a ridiculous portfolio with a beta of about 1.8, so I was expecting some horrific mess when markets opened!

I’ll stick to meme stocks for keeping things interesting then :stuck_out_tongue:

Trump’s currently on a full on nonsense ramble at the Whitehouse now. Literally turned up with a binder supposedly full of his achievements. He is a petulant little child being appeased by those around him.

Now he’s got a bunch of wanted posters he’s flicking through trying to give credit to what ICE is doing.

And now saying how Hispanics love him.

I’ve just walked in and Mr Emz has it on the radio, my first words were what is he waffling on about - good lord, he’s just rambling!

I already had to turn it off. When he’s off script it’s totally unbarrable.

It’s like that drunk old man at the bar - rambling, slurring his words, repeating himself…

Enough about the permanent staff, back to Trump!

He (Trump) says the US will be there for Nato 100%, but is unsure if allies will return the favour.

The US is treated very unfairly by Nato, he says, adding: “We give so much and we get so little in return.”

This man is vile. The USA is the only country to ever invoke article 5, and we all came and helped. Hundreds of European forces died in Afghanistan after America called for help.

It’s America who owes us the favour.

Overall they don’t care about Greenland.

Likely trump will get Greenland but this will split Nordic states and potentially NATO.

In the meantime increase to NATO spending is directly benefitting EU members as there’s no mandate where the NATO spending goes and Europe is picking European manufacturers

Huge geopolitical risks this year but growth overall looking not bad for the forecast
