I thought, on the day of his inauguration, it might be worth having a thread regarding any and all things “President trump” related

It’s bad enough to hear from my American friends about the mess the country is in. I’m dreading season 2 of America is the bad place
All I know is it can’t be a good thing when the US President launches a rug pullable crypto meme coin and then so does his wife the day after.
So far, so good. We have a ceasefire in the Middle East and await news on the Russia-Ukraine negotiations.
It’s uncharted territory, they’ve never had a lame duck from inaugeration day before.
Plus more work with Saudi Arabia to make the Middle East a safer place.
“What could possibly go wrong…?”
They had that with Biden and Harris four years ago.
Ah yes, because this is of course to do with Trump and not the months and months of multi-national negotiations that have gone on…
Well they didn’t because a lame duck is a president who can’t run again, in 4 years Trump is gone and finished, whereas we won’t even have had another General Election.
Going to be grim, a fairly large percentage of our US team have been exploring transfer to Central Europe/Oz offices
Geopolitically, I think it’s in the balance which way it goes overall, but there will be big highs and big lows.
Domestically, I think the US economy is at risk and whatever happens those at the bottom are going to get shafted.
So much globally relies on US economic and stock performance, and so much of that is reliant on only a handful of megacorps. It’s concerning.
So i work in global supply chain for a living, across multiple businesses.
General consensus is the tarriffs that will be imposed on products entering the US will just become the going rate globally, hence driving the cost up for everyone else. Basically it will make the new US cost price the going rate globally.
Most companies wont move production to the US like its aimed to try and do.
So cost of living could be about to get a whole lor worst.
unless he repeals the 22 amendment to the constitution.
Too tricky & politically unpredictable.
He’ll just do a putin & run as vice president at the next election then do swapsies like that only fools & horses episode.
So, that’s every second-term president since the introduction of the 22nd amendment then?
You can’t run as Vice President if you do not meet the requirements to be President, including having served two terms as President already. So unless the law about requirements is changed around this won’t be happening.
Perhaps the only one here to think President Trump is going be good for the US and the west.
He can’t, you can’t be VP if you aren’t eligible to be President for that very reason.
Pretty much, it’s very difficult to achieve anything in a second term and what you can do relies on momentum from your first and on having a VP or a prominent supporter in the house that’s clearly going to run next time. Trump has neither.
Probably.
