These look like the ones @Tornado got a quote for. About £3600 per tent.
Anyone got any other news about it?

So we have had a ‘standby for a partial un pause with mitigations’ notification with details to follow
Assume it will be daylight hours, filled with foam and no closing eyes and doors open with a wind blowing through - unless it is too windy in which case we will re pause for wx
As I understand it, it will be we can use them (with yet to be specified mitigations) for anything that isn’t accommodation. You know, the reason we have them.
I hope to be surprised by something sensible but I won’t hold my breath.
To be honest, I’d be alright with that on unit. They are awful to sleep in
Yes, but it’s not helpful or a solution. The reason people buy them is to accommodate people in.
We’ve never used ours as accommodation, we bought it as a Classroom/Office. I can’t even think of a unit I’ve ever worked with that’s used one as accommodation outside of annual camp.
Thats genuinely surprising. I expected people used them for both with a primary focus on sleeping in.
There still needs to be a solution for people like us who do use them for accommodation though.
We used to use one more like a cookhouse/admin tent, and cadets sleep in tents or bashas
We’ve used them like that on Wing courses (they weren’t ours though so not sure if Mk1,
2 or 3)
We’re the same - I’ve been on one Sqn, weekend, camp that used them as sleeping accommodation in 35 years involvement from Plymouth to Berwick, and known them to be used on annual camps as accommodation, but on a Sqn/sector/wing basis they are for admin, cooking, and stores supply.
Thats how we used to use them too n Sqn camps.
Cadets/Staff used normal tents with a few 12x12’s stitched together as a Mess/Admin area
I’m another vote for not used fir accommodation…at least on a previous unit.
We had a 9x9 too and both used as an “admin” or “control” tent situation.
It could be a recruitment stall at a local fete where the gazebo was “front of house” and 12x12 used as a “rest tent” or at some larger community event where we were used as car parking marshal’s or similar, the 9x9 often became the mobile “radio room”
Whenever it was used on a camp everyone else were in DofE style pup tents.
All that said my current unit do seem to exclusively used the 12x12 in an accommodation role but then we do camp out alot more supporting 2 day events…horses for courses maybe? Because we have the two day events need the tent is used that way…
I’ve used them for both, but primarily non-accommodation. They’re just good to stick up for any outdoors event to use as shelter for inclement weather. Or just to store stuff in.
But I have used them for accommodation at large events with no hard accommodation. Think helping at air shows or similar style large events!
Allowing us to use them for non-accommodation purposes would be at least better than nothing at all…
Tent update has pitched up
Tl:dr Mk 1 & 2 can be used for non domestic purposes
Non domestic? So they’re okay to be used in France then?
So I can use them with my mistress?
There’s always one isn’t there, or in this case 2 of you
The IBN doesn’t appear to be on Sharepoint yet, but the safety notice is.
It is actually on Sharepoint here but it’s not in the correct place in Key Documents!
Still feels like overkill, but I suppose it’s better than having to bin/sell all our tentage
Briefing says to hold on to old ones for now, they are looking into sourcing replacements
[rushes out to find a mk1 12x12 in rag order in hope of getting an upgrade]
