The Cluster at the Muster

On this occasion it could have been used for if transport is provided - somewhere handy to attach your own travel RA for example.

It’s like the good old days when none of all this rubbish was required and we could organise things and trust our activity commanders had suitably risk assessed it etc and just crack on an do it!

The cadets look all so enthused on the ‘3 cheers’ just uploaded to the RAFAC IG story!

This hasn’t been a thing since 2018.

You do not need a separate SMS Event for travel.

You do not need to upload your Travel RA to SMS.

You do need to complete the Travel Declaration on SMS

I have learnt today I wouldn’t make a good defence lawyer.

The only thing it’s really helpful for is things like Camps and Multi-Activity weekends. As Sub-Aps can be made for individual SME’s to sign off,

Update, my Wing definitely didn’t get a flight, after waiting, being told no, then being told maybe, then finally no.

Having not seen the paperwork, we’re they promising a flight for every Cadet or was it “a possibility”?

The paperwork originally said there was space on the day for 2000 cadets and that approx 1000 would get a flight.

MISSION

  1. To conduct a Cadet Muster for up to 2000 RAFAC personnel with an opportunity to provide an air experience flight for 1000 whilst concurrently providing supporting STEM and engagement activities. The target audience for this Muster is cadets and CFAV predominantly from Wales and West Rgn, with attachments from the CCF, and other ATC Rgns.

No idea, but they did nothing for 6 hours. After being told to wait in the bus to be checked in (nobody came) they decided in the end to just join the queue.

That’s seriously upsetting to hear to be honest. Even if they didn’t get a flight, or weren’t meant to get a flight, it looks there was a lot of other stuff going on that they should have been involved with instead. I hope what you’ve heard is fed back up the chain.

Is there actually any redress that can be made for this shambles.

Its gopping.

Frankly considering a formal letter to Comdt.
Balls to the consequences.

Comment from the Discord:

“Having just partook in the final parade in Cosford I must say- it felt rather last minute.
The words by our Commandant were endearing and supporting after Covid however the entire parade seemed half planned with roughly 50% of the Cadets stood off to the side without a clue in the partaking”

Tbf, after a couple of hundred people, trying to arrange any hollow square or other formation can be a bit unwieldy…

We had 10 kids attend, kitted up for Puma flight, briefing watched, waiting at side of airfield - told Puma flights done, told to dekit, told to rekit for chinook, watch chinook video, waiting for embark, told no more chinook flying and to dekit. Didn’t fly. Oh and 2 of the kids were split off into different groups with cadets they didn’t know - and told from the start they weren’t going to fly. 1 of the kids sat around with the staff getting them to sing Xmas carols instead?

Disappointment for the kids involved, bit of a rollercoaster of emotions. Displays were good, but didn’t do much else. Whilst I appreciate they weren’t all going to get to fly, to kit up and dekit twice was a disappointing for them.

I’m sure this was set up with the best intentions, but bit of a waste of a trip for them.

Wow, things were pretty desperate for the attending staff too then. Not sure how bad things would have to get for this to be what you resort too!

Aye.

Like I said, I’m sure the staff did everything with the best of intentions.

But this is some honest feedback from a group of cadets who had a 0630hrs rally at unit for a day where at least some of them should have come away having flown.

Oh well…

I’m sure they did. The staff as well as cadets let down by the organisation of the event

Over 1200 with 800 flown according to Sir Mike on Twitter.

Unless there were 400 perms present or a pointlessly and potentially problematic separate SMS Event, something isn’t right…

RAFAC Facebook says over 1000 cadets.

These numbers were starting to rattle my ratio radar with potentially this many extras, so I dug out the RAs (I wanted to check if masks were mentioned as well)…

Some were written and signed off 7th, 8th, 9th.

Disappointing sounds like an understatement.

Totally demoralising… for the cadet and the staff that has to let them down.
