So the ACC/SCC operate under far different restrictions, authorisations and RAs
Is leaving and with a trail of destruction behind him. Given he was radically short toured as A4 Force Commander, you do wonder what went on there?
Anyone know when the next Train the Trainer course isā¦ ?
2027, run out of RAF Luton.

The trainer for the train the trainerās trainer cold injuries mandatory training is out of date and they cant find a parking space on their own.

You can view it on the astra dashboard along with various comments about decisions
Iāve found it neigh on impossible to see any real information on there other than the idea and whether it has been accepted or rejected. If you click on an item, it just shows the what/why/how from the submitter.
Ah, so only 3 things have actually happened then? One was already ongoing (digitising forms), one was a meta task to add an Astra link to the home page, and the other is about ātaking actionā against unofficial badges. The later Iāve seen nothing else on so intrigued to see what has actually been done there.
We are getting waaay off topic though.
Back to the topic:
Thereās been a lot of talk here about big announcements/changes being made with little to no notice. This car park saga being another good example. Just having a skim through another FOI and it was refreshing to see that someone at HQ clearly gets the idea that we need notice for things.
This is part of a discussion about updating an re-releasing the EASP template. Need more people like this, clearly engaging their brain a bit and thinking about how changes will effect those of us delivering activity at the coal face.
(Also, off topic again, but Iāll add; Given how much the data team like to keep back information, itās amazing how much of the email signature they keep. Very quick and easy to work out who is who!)
Someone in there also referred to WRTs not being suitable for under 18s and WBGTs not being accessible.
Yep, the same person. Clearly a good egg at HQ.
He is a very good egg who tries extremely hard to support the volunteers.
Any chance he might be the next CAC? We really need someone who supports volunteers, not continually undermines them.
Sadly not - CACās are the RAFās man/woman at HQAC, not the ACOās man/woman at Crawell.
CAC is a post that exists to A) provide the RAF with a hole to stick someone who isnāt trusted with an empty crisp packet, while still giving them a salary, and B) a rolling programme to make the ACO cheaper and less troublesome for the RAF than it was 6 months previously.
Thatās it.
The timing couldnāt be better. The time of year when marshaling for events will have been planned and booked is now, not allowed!? No warning or inkling this may happen. Luckily we donāt do this on our Sqn but I know neighbouring Sqns have done this in the past.
Iāve met a couple of nutters over the years who are dual-hatted as reserve officers and CFAV unit commanders/WSOs/coy comd etc.
Canāt be many, but thatās what Iād like to see trialled at the top.
Someone who is eligible to run the organisation as a result of their reservist service (if theyāve managed to climb that very narrow career path to the top, potentially being an RC on FTRS first) while still being grounded in the reality of unit command over the course of a decade or so.
We had an emergency WhatsApp last night - weāve had to cancel on event in two weeks time (and there was lots of swearing involved when the OC rang the organiserā¦) that was due to bring in Ā£1500 for one day.
Weāve also cancelled two smaller events during the rest of the summer that would bring in about Ā£1k between them, and weāve āpausedā and event in September that will bring in about Ā£800. Theyāve given us a week to get a yes/no.
thats about, it turns out, 80% of our income.
OC doing a letter to parents to say that weāre going to use some reserves to maintain our costings for events that have already been priced, but that for anything after that is likely to cost a lot more.
Itās devastation. They might as well have said that we canāt do training when the day has vowels in it.
It would be interesting to see the percentages of Squadronās that still use carparkig.
I can see from here its obviously had a huge impact for some. But speaking to my local Squadronās only 1 of them actually still do car parking so for us weāve been lucky and its had no impact for the Sqn (I think last time we did car parking / marshalling was in 2017/2018 - as a staff team decided it wasnāt good use of the cadets time) and actually for our local area only one Sqn is impacted. One of them stopped doing it as the organisers needed them to be over 16.
We all help out in shows in other ways to replacing the car parking so still have the community input.
Make sure the OC includes TKās direct dial and email address.
