I thought it was you called when the SAS and SBS were busy. But if you really need to drill hard into a problem then you’re better off with SDS.

But anyway… Staff Ranks?

Got to love Donna though :heart:

I don’t want to get marked for drifting so i’ll just say yes :joy:

So,

With the new announcement any it’s vagueness, How do we think it’s going to affect Staff Ranks, and how do we want it to go?

No change at all which is we want really.

You might have a slight change that the minimum age to commission remains at 20 but I don’t think that’s the policy as yet.

According to the RAF website you can apply for a commission at 17.5, yes very few will get through the sift but it is possible to be commissioned by the age of 18.5, Carpita willing.

They have different badges of rank (especially the ones in training).

or they’re air traffic control

Dunno plenty of aircrew and air traffic.

Those are Two specific trade groups, which aren’t normal at all

And yet you are always tripping over them in the less at most flying stations.

from a RAFAC POV that’s because you take them to see the exciting sections, Which so happen to be aircrew and in the case of my Lossie trip, ATC

As an ‘acting’ Flt Lt with 32 years service, if they try to ‘demote’ me to Flying officer, I’m walking out of the organisation to find an somewhere that I might be appreciated.
Our Sqn has a Fg Off who is an ex-regular Wg Cdr with no hope of advancement.

And they call this ‘appreciating our volunteers’ !!

That’s why flt lt should be the standard rank rather than fg off.

If your volunteering is on the basis of holding a rank, personally I’d be questioning your motivations . . .
Our ranks aren’t there to show appreciation, they are there to play homage to the parent service and present a military style organisation to the Cadets. The rank is there to help acknowledge the level of responsibility held within the org.
