Staff Ranks

By extension, staff cadets are legally adults, and I’d wager on the average parade night they are far more “volunteer” than cadet…

Bang on the money!

That should be Staff Cadet Sergeant, surely?emphasised text

PO is definitely petty officer, but I’m pretty sure there was already a precedent for APO.

100% they should be taught. Make it progressive with RAFAC ranks, RAF, other services, NATO, etc. (either as a GSK PTS badge or lumped in with classifications).

Only in the sense I think it was very common back in the day to sign off flying logs etc as P/O, F/O, F/L, S/L etc

Hasn’t it always been APO for University Cadetships, UASs, etc?

I remember a friend coming out of Crantanamo with “A/Plt Off” on the ID.

But as with this organisation, where people are constantly doing stuff incorrectly, it only takes a brief moment for something to take hold and then it feels weird to change.

Edit: It strikes me that I may have to justify remembering such a thing. Let’s just say she was “super chuffed” about her graduation ID card…

I’ve seen FLT SGT on ID cards though. I think it just depends what you put on the form.

Edit: Just remembered once being told by a regular officer that his substantive rank was still acting pilot officer. How can a substantive rank have ‘acting’ in its name?

What I’ve always found amusing about this is 19 year old CWOs, who are quite literally adults volunteering in the cadet forces, being clearly differentiated from cadet forces adult volunteers.

Dont tell me @AlexCorbin missed this one?

@AlexCorbin feeling massaged? :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

Insert comment about WWOs being good at massaging themselves.

TEST should have delivered ‘pre-OIC’ but most TEST SNCOs deliver as little as they think possible (to be fair, mostly based on the fact that they and the CFAVs are busy!)

Have you ever processed ranks on WESTMINSTER? Entertainingly the CCF(RAF) cadet ranks are abbreviated

CWO
CFltSgt
CSgt
CCpl
CLCpl

even though the Army ones are just WO1, WO2, SSgt, etc.

And to think some people try to use the way things appear in these systems to justify things like using ‘CI’ as a rank title in front of names.

A friend of mine was issued a MOD90 with the rank of “FLT FLT” How does that even happen?

Fat fingers I guess but I had assumed ranks were picked from a list not typed in. But I guess there are a lot of options.

Just spotted this on the Advisory panel application

HQAC aren’t even consistent with their own cadetisms,

Sounds like a knock off furniture store…

I always thought SCS were just the “practice” area for wannabe SF & SFSG.
