Done through VP I think.
I’ll have to have a dig through later on to find it.
Absolute classic that ACP 20 points to the completely wrong form. Not going to miss that!
Yep, all done in volunteer portal. Simpler and quicker.
Same with transfers and supernumerary. So easy.
There is a resign workflow on VP - only use for resignation from organisation. The resign Comission/Warrant and stay in as a CI its for Pers 1-10.
QQ:
As cadets get access to SharePoint, is it worth the forum maintaining a page / pinned post highlighting various key info pages?
I’m thinking for things like:
“I’ve designed a new unit badge, what are the rules?”
“I bought a new fez, can I wear it in green, or just while rock climbing?”
“My sgt says I have to skip while changing step, where can I find the regulations on challenging him to a duel?”
Basically a bit of signposting to help cadets and staff find key pages and maybe even save them on their phones.
Wouldn’t want to detract from conversation and forum support, but it feels like a list of maintained links could be useful.
Could we even have a list of go-to links as part of the site’s web app, all redirecting to the right part of the SharePoint?
Edit: Not actually that quick of a question.
A lot of that stuff they already have access to on Cadet Portal, AP818 and ACP1358 as examples. I think most of the ACTOs are also there.
Loving the examples!
I wish I had a blank cadet portal layout on my vol portal account so I could learn to navigate it and keep up-to-date on what they have access to.
i agree - and with Sharepoint redesigns as we have gone through recently having a “home page” to find the “go to” information with links that always point at the document and don’t break regardless of where the information is on Sharepoint
however, in addition to the @Jimothy’s point about these resources already having a place on CP, i don’t feel ACC collects enough traffic asking those questions to justify it.
it is solving a problem that doesn’t exist/answers a question no one is asking - perhaps because there already is a solution on CP?
But also i suspect very few Cadets consider internet forums as a source of help.
the Facebook page/group YKYBAACTLW was once a source of “help” and the go to location for Cadets of all ranks, experience, knowledge and skills to ask the online community the hot question they had.
it was the ACC of its time for the Cadets of that generation - while “we”* are used to internet forums the Cadets only knew of Facebook.
that platform is now no longer popular with the age bracket of Cadets, and YKYBAACTLW has now died due to a lack of content.
i don’t know where the Cadets are going nowadays, but i doubt it is skimming ACC for answers…
*i generalise here. I know there are many ACC members/contributers who are early 20s but of those i know/can identify are mid-30s upwards where forums were the place to go before Social Media to discuss with a like minded community
My NCOs run through Cadet Portal and MyRAFAC with our new cadets within in a week or two of joining. I’ve sat in one before and it was useful being shown around it by someone who uses it often.
That’s a good point. I’ll get refresher training with the next intake.
That should be on there as a matter of course for CFAVs new to the organisation. I have been in this organisation for way before SharePoint was a thing and I have to ask on here where to find things. I still can’t remember where the proof of insurance/indemnification for loss letter is stored.
Every year I have to re-find that ![]()
This has been asked for some many times - if staff get any Cadet Portal questions from cadets (other than wot about my photo?
), they get pointed at a cadet SNCO straightaway!
I was fortunate for the first couple of years to have a daughter in cadets - seeing how events display on Cadet Portal compared to what I thought would happen was good. It would be really good to have a dummy account. They also change the application reguarly, from time to time, so knowing how it has changed is quite important for us.
I do know that the video ‘tour’ that is available online is not worth showing to cadets anymore as it has changed so much - it would confuse them.
Get your cadets to make a new one?
Many units created a dummy account with a fictional cadet just to see how it worked.
We just used the account of a cadet who left for ages
Aren’t you then paying subs for them?
