Civilian rifle clubs are also another avenue. Some are really happy to take them off your hands for a cheaper rate. Gunsmiths often have an excess of 2nd hand weapons they’re trying to get rid of, so you may not get much buck for your bang.
Other than just adapting from sensible staff who have run approved events is there a template available for admin orders/joining instructions?
Greg has put a lot of effort in to that so please do give it a trial.
I can’t access it! No way to request either. ![]()
You would need to be in the Mil Skills Hub to be able to see the request. If you DM me your RAFAC email I can add you
Erm do you know who he is ![]()

Thanks!
I started typing out the below about 2 hours ago, but gave up because the forum UI on mobile is so bad. I ended up messaging @themajor on Teams instead
But for anyone coming across it, this is what I was trying to reply with:
That’s the OG document, but given its age, I’d suggest it to be out of date.
This appears to be the latest I can find. It was behind a login page I couldn’t sign up for. But just changing 2021 to 2025 on the OG link worked ![]()
@steve679 your link is the one I added above, that ends up at a login page. But the direct PDF link to the 2025 one works.
QQ: Where are people buying cheap, used bikes from these days?
I’m weighing up doing a bit of exploring in the summer and taking my eBike isn’t feasible, so I’m looking to purchase a cheap hybrid or travel bike, renovate her, and head off around Europe.
Trouble is that Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree & eBay aren’t producing much fruit. I have seen a couple of frames for a fiver, but I’m almost certain that they’re stolen.
Facebook!
My current bike and my wife’s are both bought locally from FB.
We’re not serious bikers but have both got a full suspension bike for the footpaths and bridleways local to us to get into the woods and beyond with Mini Steve on the child seat.
i know that doesn’t help much if your not having much luck - have your tried searching for a “bikes for sale” FB group? it might be outside of your local community but might get something viable that suits your needs?
Also another thats used Facebook to both buy and sell a bike in the past 12 months.
There is a site called Buycycle but i’m not 100% sure if they still support sales and purchases from the UK.
Can I just ask, why is taking your e-bike not feasible? It won’t help me answer your question, but might factor into my own decisions.
Mostly to do with not being able to be certain about charging availability, and electric bikes are damn heavy when they’re not using their batteries.
It’ll be lighter with a non-electric bike, and I won’t have to worry about trying to find somewhere to charge.
On the highest setting, my battery will only last a couple of hours. Theoretically, I could make it last all day if I only used the assistance for the steepest of hills, but that means hauling a heavy bike up less serious hills.
Thanks for the info. That’s really put me off them. I thought they’d self-charge like hybrid cars.
They’re great for popping around town; I fly past the queues of cars and arrive the other end without breaking a sweat. I use mine every day to commute to the office.
But they do need plugging in. Self-charging cars rely on petrol engines, and even electric bikes don’t have those.
