Quick Questions…

Nope.

I suspect this form dates from a time when cadets could expect more than one AEF experience in their cadet career.

Hey Hey Hey, I’ve got cadets who’ve been flying twice.

Is this not now completely out of date, as the various wings levels have their own criteria?

I don’t think so? ACTO 31 still lists the different Sorties

Linked to this anyone with a bit of AI able to generate a quick map showing areas more than 10 miles away from an ATC Sqn?

If a list of geospatial co-ordinates can be provided, then yes.

I did ask my GPT, but it largely referred me back to ACC :joy:

Just tried to post the script with all the location :joy:

Put them in a word document and add that as an attachment

Only moderators can upload files I think…

Send me the data ill do it

Question for anyone who might know. CFAV on our Sqn has got their own training business they do on the side and are registered as a training centre with an Awarding Body to deliver regulated qualifications. Ie First Aid (EFAW & FAW) & basic Health & Safety (similar to the old school Entry level award/level 1 awards cadets used to deliver). Willing to do it at cost (ie Sqn charity funds the awarding body fees & supplies per cadet but no profit)

Could they deliver these qualifications to cadets on our Sqn as a CFAV without any policy issues or is it a bit of a mine field. I’ve asked around and nobody really has any answer and we can’t find policy on it.

I believe they can but they can’t be counted towards badges so best to go for First Aid at Work.

Getting personnel then authorised to deliver the air cadet first aid courses is then a bit of a pain in the back side.

Most of the cadets already have relevant cadet badges but this was to give them something recognised outside rafac when the go for jobs. ie EFAW/FAW rather than E/Y/A FA which is rafac only

Do employers care about stuff like that? I thought they provided it if needed.

Sounds like a conflict of interest waiting to happen

Been done, especially with FAAW. Though check with WFAO as might be accredited to deliver - then just jump a few hoops to be added as one of our instructors. If it’s RAFAC delivery, then guaranteed no conflict.

At cost should be enough to get around any CoI claims, as not profiting from the voluntary endeavour.

Another angle might be that they aren’t CFAV those days.

Saving money? Having trained employees? A CV that shows qualifications and experience beyond the minimum?

Yes.

What offering skills that will be useful in real life?

I regularly see job apps that have things like FA training, H&S training etc as desirable qualities. These are things we can deliver to cadets and staff!

It shouldn’t be; Certainly not if it’s being done at cost, rather than any profit.

100%. Even if they just charged normal rates, as long as it was all declared and out in the open I wouldn’t really see it as a conflict as such. If I owned a climbing wall (I wish!) it wouldn’t really be a conflict for cadets to come and use it paying normal rates…
