Because they haven’t given US the order?
The chain of command can’t expect us to follow orders we haven’t been given, I’ve only heard it hearsay from an unapproved forum we’re discouraged from frequenting.

Well, as I say that’s a different issue; and certainly an order with the level of importance they’ve given to this one should have made it’s way to everyone. The fact that it hasn’t is poor.
But clearly there are many who are perfectly aware of the order, even though it hasn’t made it to them through the correct channels, who are just using that as an excuse to be petty and awkward. I’m not saying that is you… But they are out there.
Awkward? Moi?
I’ve got to agree with @wdimagineer2b here.
There are, and always have been, some silly rules in this organisation but we (generally) follow them as that’s what you do. Whether or not you agree with this new ‘rule’ doesn’t matter. We do as we’re told, and it’s only for a fortnight anyway…
As for the lack of comms though, that is another issue in its own right that really needs to get sorted. I’ve had an email today from the region MC officer detailing what’s what. I can understand someone not getting an email and then posting. But to have seen that it’s not allowed and then purposely go out your way to do it anyway is just stupid imo.
This email was sent under an hour ago though so you all may (should) get an email too.
As to why an email directly from HQAC hasn’t come out I don’t know and think that’s rediculous. There an announcement system for a reason and they should use it properly. Or hell, an IBN. They seem to love those!
I note with interest that many of those complaining about this (not just in here) are those who are also quick to grumble about having “bigger things to worry about” when an SNCO highlights a uniform issue or drill being done incorrectly, or something…
I just keep thinking “So, you’ve been told not to tweet for a few days? So what? Haven’t you got ‘bigger things to worry about’?..”
Yeah, like trying to promote the unit reopening in person for the first time in ages, trying to spread interest in order to stop said unit going under due to a downturn in staff and cadet numbers, perhaps trying to grab the attention of young people during a week of holiday, before they go back to school and maybe find other new things to do as things open up.
So, no. Nothing important to chat about at all in the context of a youth organisation coming out of a pandemic.
As I say… I just don’t see the fuss, so we’ll have to agree to disagree.
We’re all in the same boat. We’ve been on virtual training for over a year. A week more of no twitter in the light of exceptional circumstances just doesn’t seem like a big deal to me in the least.
Surely you have contact details of parents to send an email to? You can’t rely solely on social media to connect with them?
I’m in agreement with @wdimagineer2b to be honest.
Another couple of weeks no posting on FB isn’t the end of the world.
We’re trying to recruit, we have three new starters lined up for next week as it happens, but being able to promote going back yesterday, and next week would be ideal timing for maybe a small intake.
I will say that I can see how it would be frustrating if one were just ready to go on a recruitment push and to then have to delay… I’ve also been the man thrust in charge of a unit about to be closed and had to wear the WO/Adj/OIC/+ other hats whist fighting to keep it alive, so I sympathise with the concerns.
But I don’t really see that there can be many units at all out there who will close as a direct result of not being able to tweet for another 8 days… If any do close as a result, then I think they were unlikely to survive anyway.
Well, what I could see today (as on daddy duties), it looked very well carried out today.
A sense of protocol, along with personal grieving.
Was difficult to explain why it was happening to a 3 Yr old though.
A very moving and dignified Ceremony. I felt so sorry for the Queen sitting there on her own.
Especially that shot at the end during the national anthem
…that & the Last Post. Very dusty all of a sudden.
Just watched the bit where the empty Land Rover drove on to bands playing and a guard of honour and thought, was yesterday also the funeral for the Land Rover we never got?
I don’t mean this entirely as a joke. But the Land Rover, Series one to Defender was an iconic piece of British design, which went out with a bit of fanfare. But this. This is what it really deserved.
I was sitting at traffic this morning behind a new defender, sad it maybe but thinking it would never look the part at yesterday’s funeral of the old shaped versions
The disco sport (aka the new freelander) is nice but unreliable… Basically a poor man’s evoque but the new proper discovery looks like its been drawn by a 6 year old
The new disco only looks nice with the custom boot.
The disco sport isn’t that bad it’s just not a great car or to get excited about. It’s a nice enough drive but not as nice as a BMW.
