Prince Philip has died aged 99

You what? :unamused:

At least we can all post about St George’s Day…

Yep, seen the same notification. Another quiet week.

Erm yeah.
That will be a no from me.

They can jog on.
National Mourning ends 0800 Sunday.
From then on it’s back to normal.

Just looked at the Forth Bridge social media guidance

Although National Mourning will end at 0800 Sun 18 Apr, the period of Royal Mourning, which will include some RAF personnel and sqns/formations, will continue until Fri 23 Apr 21. During this period a fine balance must be struck to remain respectful and supportive at a time of great loss, therefore an immediate return to routine digital communications activity is considered unlikely. Further direction will be provided by DDC, but it is anticipated that content relating to HRH’s visits and interaction with the Service over the years will be permitted during this time.

Local ACF have been told its a hold on all activities, until the 17th.

Personally, I can’t understand the fuss about being told not to post on social media for a fortnight; and I really can’t understand the attitude which says “I don’t care what anyone above me says, I’m going to do my own thing!”

The second most senior royal has died. There are protocols to follow. Every knows this was going to be the case. All government and military are expected to follow the rules. Why should OC 1234 Sqn think they are special?
Just toe the line… We all volunteered to be part of an organisation with rules.

Isn’t the point that we are not special? The rules are designed for a service and blanketly applied to us, when we don’t matter?

I’d say that the rules are designed for all governmental bodies, including us, and that’s why they’re being applied to us.

Yeah, but we’re not a governmental body, we are a MOD sponsored youth organisation. The rules being blanket applied because noone has really thought about it is overkill.

Perhaps someone HAS thought about it, and decided that as an MOD sponsored youth organisation we should show the same formal respect as the rest of the MOD.

Well, if they have, and to be honest, I doubt it. I disagree with their conclusion.

Agree or disagree though (and clearly there are a few who share your disagreement) it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference does it?
Order from the very top is “don’t post”. So we don’t post. Simples.

Hardly from the top though? Had it not been for this place, I wouldn’t have stopped anything past Sunday.

I havent recieved that order. Yet anyways.

And frankly IAW with the previous messages of ok from this sunday. I will be reverting to posting as needed.

This also comply with National Mourning.
But not Royal Mourning… if anyone has forgotten we arent royals… so Royal Mourning doesnt appy to us.

Well it is from the top. It’s a policy covering the entire Government and armed forces… It hasn’t been put together on the desk of some 2 Lt.

Being given orders to do something or other really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone in this organisation. If it does and they think they should be allowed to be autonomous then I can’t help but think they’ve misunderstood what they’ve volunteered for.

But aside from all that, as I say, I just can’t understand the fuss. What have these people got to post that can’t wait another week in rare formal circumstances?

… you might just be surprised by that one there.

Well, that I can’t disagree with you over…

That I also don’t disagree with.
But… You know… Someone senior to us has given an order and what’s the big deal with complying?
