Prince Philip has died aged 99

Guys, At least my post was tangentially related to the Prince.

Do I really need to create a Land Rover appreciation/whining thread?

That sounds like a glorious idea :grin:

I must say that there’s no other country in the world that does ceremony like we do.

Just everything from the historic venues, the choirs, the way our military turn out

They do one heck of a job.

The biggest con we ever pulled off was making it seem like it’s always been that way, but I learnt once that it was a conscious decision undertaken around the Victorian era. Maybe to gloss over the fact the Royals were all German?

I was reading in the Telegraph that the discipline is all very recent.

Apparently not too long ago it was chaos with uninvited guests gate crashing services and all sorts!

This was the main reason

When Queen Victoria died her funeral was recorded and it was a disaster people joining in, wandering about and even drunkenness.
It was never to be repeated so that’s why they made it more formal

If you watch the film, look at the coffin bearers

Looks like the Red Arrows Social Media Team didn’t get the memo. (And the RAF Social Media team for sharing it )

And the Army Cadets and Sea Cadets are both posting content again.

Is anybody surprised that our strategy on this is incoherent and poorly communicated?

They had a post about paying their respects during the funeral as part of their thread on Twitter, so that’s maybe how they got round it
?

And we changed the icons on our SM, on fb this results in a post being made, so we followed the rules but in doing so have breached another set of rules
 Can’t win.

Yep, it’s all nonsense.

No one anywhere as any control over SM
its not National Mourning, ensigns are back up.

Time to #move on.

I like that we are still in a blackout but Prince William can tweet about football.

Typical lefty project fear. Free the Super League 12 from the tyranny of UEFA oppression!

And
Thoughtout all of this, I have not recieved an email about how to behave on Social media.

I don’t log into sharepoint on a regular basis. I’ve always been told that sharepoint is a document storage area, not an message board.

Has your Wg MCO not sent the standard wording from HQAC saying

The pause on social media content from Squadron or Role accounts remains in effect until close of play Friday 23 April

if there’s no content to be posted, there’s no conduct to follow, surely?

I’m in an RSO post

Probably why you’ve not seen anything. Most, if not all, of the all.region/all.wing address go to the squadron accounts (oc, adj generic etc) and miss out the WSO/RSO accounts. Something which seems to be forgotten by those staff using those group emails.

that’s a failure of your RMCO then :man_shrugging: all the distributions I’ve seen have included RMCO + WMCOs and asked to forward to AORs
