A good letter, but another speulling mistake.
Not sure if irony or not
Still nothing received here.
Just seen it on our Facebook page.
The letter was specifically not meant to go on social media so hope they haven’t posted it.
If you’ve not had it then your CoC is to blame as it hit the RCs yesterday.
Blimey - our wg email came just after 2100 hrs last night.
I know of 2 wings (in 2 Regions) - one sent it just after 1900, having received from RC at 1800; the other sent just after 1700, within 5 mins of receiving it from RC
It is a bit frustrating how slow some info is disseminated through some CoCs
Real question is… why didnt the Commandant just send to all.rafac as a bcc with an brief one line email and his letter as an attachment.
Job done.
Direct from him to all.
@james_elliott do you know?
Is there an IT reason not to?
Yet when it suits them, communication can be sent to ALL, or in the case of one of the recent surveys, to CFAVs’ private email addresses.
A cascade system allows the different elements of the CoC to add their own “flavour” = delays things; a separate Region / Wg email would satisfy any such requirements.
I’d advocate not sending it as bcc:
- it’s more transparent if you see the to / cc fields
- it’s very easy to limit who has permission to post to an address (to prevent reply-all issues)
You just put in the email
‘Sent to all RAFAC email addresses’ there is your transparency.
Not difficult
Sorry, I’m failing to see the advantage of putting it as BCC and adding the text to the email?
By using bcc.
It automatically means noone can reply all and we get an ‘I like cheese’ session.
It’s simple, effective and requires zero effort.
hence
- it’s very easy to limit who has permission to post to an address (to prevent reply-all issues)
Just use the bader announcements system. It’s there for a reason. It puts it on sharepoint and can also send an email to all users…
Talking of which, they have now added an item to the announcements section (non-emailed unless you have notifications set up) but the link is broken.
Yeah ok that too.
Is it on either yet?
Either way. The point is using the CoC for Comms clearly IS NOT WORKING.
What if the user expands the addresses out and then inadvertently click reply all?
So, that’s a different thing
all.rafac@rafac.mod.gov.uk is a single email address which is an alias to an email list. Individual users can’t ‘expand’ this. The default permissions on this email list should prevent posting without moderation.
Outlook has a different, proprietary, way of creating lists. This doesn’t use a single email address. It is possible to use this too, which does allow expanding, but I’ve never seen a RAFAC user use this method
And this can be blocked anyway by limiting the number of address anyone can send a single email too.
Anyway, not really relevant as they should just use the announcements!
