The whole THINK! thing makes it read like a road safety ad. And if we’re being super critical then the kerning between K and ! is quite off

Decent posters though

I’m glad I’m not alone in getting twitchy about kerning

think bike

I’m less triggered by kerning than by people who use automatic, variable leading…

With all the local restrictions being put in place currently, why are people worrying about returning to f2f? Go back and get a local lockdown, then shut again. I still don’t understand how youth groups, got an exemption, given they will invariably be from all over the place and meet in halls and huts.

No one is asking you to return to F2F if you don’t want to.

If you don’t want to come back to doing cadets you can always complete a Pers 2-10.

We should do as much as we can within the guidelines, for the sake of the cadets and staff mental health.

We should plan regardless of rumour and be prepared for short notice cancellation if local lockdowns occur.

Youth groups are a part of long term public health - they have a hugely beneficial effect on children’s mental health and socialisation skills.

For some reason, people think that such things might be quite important…

Id imagine it’s to do with the safeguarding role - safeguarding referrals dropped dramatically over lockdown, and not because abuse went down. It’s important for kids to have contact with other responsible adults (eg teachers, youth workers etc) who are able to spot the signs of issues in the home.

I find it funny that different rules are being used round the uk.

So far seen 4 Squadrons post pictures of Cadets with more than 15 cadets in attendance. One had 22 cadets and 4 staff. Posted 1 week ago.

No face masks being used.

No social distancing.

2 squadrons forming squads.

1 squadron having a weekend away with an over night stay.

Why do I feel that we are the only squadron following the rules.

That will be fine - if they are operating as two separate bubbles.

That should be fine if they are outside and suitably distanced.

There’s certainly no issue with that…
Unless you mean that they are going through the proper drill for “sizing a squad”? Simply putting cadets into a suitably distanced squad is not a problem.

The thing here is that those ‘issues’ don’t really mean anything without context.

In our F2F we have been told nomore than 15 cadets on a parade night. If we want to lease more then we have to do over 2 nights.

Yeah squad marching which I though we had to as a line.

This isn’t the place to name And shame.

It’s not a Manx squadron. I’m not naming and shaming squadrons or wings.

It was more of an observation.

That sounds like a local decision. It’s certainly not what the guidance says. If a Sqn can suitibly hold two bubbles and keep them separate for the night then there’s no issue with having two.
I know a squadron which is now parading 30 cadets - one bubble in each of their two buildings and never the twain shall meet.

It could equally work with two bubbles operating on the Sqn’s training area.

Ahh, got you. Technically, yes that’s against the guidance.
Although, if they are operating within the bounds of the risk assessment that their RC has approved then it’s okay.

The guidance is guidance and it’s the RC signing off (or not) on the Sqn’s plans and RAs which says whether it’s allowed or not.
The key thing to remember about the “return to…” guides is that they have been cobbled together from different SMEs without any oversight. Nobody has taken all that information and created one overarching vision.
That’s why there is so much disparity.

Take drill for example… Somebody (nobody seems to have admitted to it yet) has created their own idea of how to make drill COVID-secure and that’s what has gone into the guidance. Nobody has gone through it and made any particular decision or attempted to match it with other activities.
We end up with guidance in one part which says that people can be standing together with a mask on at less than 2m distance; versus drill which says that cadets in a squad must be 2.25m apart.

Just frustrating that not all regions are doing the same. I guess it’s bound to happen.

Maybe we will get back in 2021.
