Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

You could apply the same logic to forcing staff to use teams could discriminate on age or on social class if they couldn’t afford the home computing.

There is no obligation for an organisation to accept someone as a volunteer so any volunteer can be released as services no longer required with no obligation for notice or for a reason to be given.

Conditions of service in volunteer organisations are like the End user license agreements in software applications. Either accept the new ones or don’t use - it’s your choice to continue.

Say also you had a squadron where the staff refused to come down unless cadets were confirmed at having the vaccine. There wouldn’t be enough staff to make the Sqn viable so either the cadets get jabbed or the Sqn closes. It’s a choice but there are consequences for non-compliance.,

I’m all for the jab/boosters etc - but vaccine mandates are such a slippery slope for government, let alone the RAFAC, I think it is best just left.

Residential daily testing, great. Regular testing otherwise as the kids have been for school anyway seems sensible to me too. And proportionate.

I was hoping the new year might have started a bit more positive for cadets, but will be a continuation of masks/1m+ indoors.

Hopefully there will be some good news soon that will lead to normality in the new year.

Yeap - mandated vaccinations are a very slippery slope. Remember it’s going to take an Act of Parliament on Wednesday to ensure NHS/Care staff are vaccinated - that’s a significant step change - but I cannot see Whitehall going down the same road for Cadet Forces!

And whilst vaccination status isn’t a protected characteristic, we would leave ourselves very open to discrimination from those with medical conditions which prohibit you from having a vaccination.

That list of conditions which debar you from vaccinations includes NOT having had covid for X months. Given how covid has swept through the U18 population in schools, and that U18 vaccinations were only introduced in August, many of our U18’s are only just becoming eligible for vaccinations anyway!

Should we encourage them? Yes but whilst being sympathetic to those who are unable to access vaccinations on medical grounds as well.

Regular testing is probably the limit of our “club rules”.

is the same not true for mask wearing?

ie - All to wear masks in the Squadron building unless medically exempt

so with vaccinations, would the same not apply?

All to be vaccinated unless medically exempt…

i can understand the difficulties and discrimination issues, but are these challenges not the same that pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinema etc have been dealing with in Wales needing to show a Covid-Pass?
how are they getting around them and staying on the right side of the law/moral line of discrimination?

I am not comparing a youth club to a public house - yet at the same time the law states the landlord/building owner has the right to exclude people from their property in much the same way I have the right to refuse entry to people into my home (short of the Police with a warrant…)

Our options around requiring LFTs may no longer be available.

Scotsman - Lateral Flow Test kit shortage.

Just seen this on the news, seems it is a big issue and you can’t order any online. Will definitely stop us relying on them for activities.

But of course we won’t be doing any activities at Christmas….

are there religions that are against vaccinations?

You can order them to collect from pharmacies, just not have them delivered to you at the moment.

Not that I’m aware of.

Some hard-line Catholics (mainly those who refuse to accept Francis as a genuine Pope) and evangelical Christians are against them due to the use of foetal cell lines (which result from abortions) in the testing process (though generally it comes from a distorting of the science). Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reform Church have an official position against the vaccine. Some right wing evangelicals believe it is the mark of the beast predicted in Revelations and so refuse to have it on that basis as it would permanently prevent entry to heaven.

Most of the major denominations have said that the vaccine should be taken unless medically advised against. but that doesn’t stop those in smaller denominations or at the extreme ends of the main ones holding that belief.

Likewise some hard-line Islamic sects are against vaccines on the basis that they contain gelatin (derived from pork) and therefore are haram. Most Islamic scholars though point out that when it comes to healthcare and the preservation of life then you do not need to stick to those halal rules.

But the belief section may also protect people who hold a non religious belief against vaccines.

U18s are eligible two of our older cadets (one 16 and one 17) have got their boosters booked, they had their first in August, before they started FE.

After speaking to the nurse at Southampton hospital tonight, 98% of the covid ward are unvaccinated, literally mandatory vac would make the issue go away

I think the dead who were voluntarily unvaccinated (where there is no reason not to get it) should all receive a collective Darwin Award.

Each of them should get a poster on the ceiling above their bed that says “How’s your ‘research’ coming along?”.

At some point we are going to have either end restrictions regardless of vaccinations/infections or introduce mandatory vaccinations. We can’t keep going on like this because of an idiotic minority.

I’m in favour of weaponising misinformation myself.

Hear me out, they all believe the vaccines are a conspiracy by some evil enemy power to kill off the believers. We start a new conspiracy theory that the virus was ‘designed’ to kill off the enemies of someone like Russia or China, that the vaccines are real, but that our enemies are using misinformation to weaken the populaces of their enemies by convincing them not to get vaccinated.

TBF, the latter half of that is arguably true, I bet Russia are doing exactly that with their army of bots.

genius!

it just royally fudges me off, the minority ruining it all for the majority…im personally an advocate of if your not vaccinated and you need hospital treatment for Covid…then you get presented with the bill at the end.

but anyways, that could send us all down an off thread rabbit hole!

The thing that’s most bonkers, is if the Vaccine is designed to bump you off, why would governments be giving it to the people who are sheeple leaving just those smart enough to resist the governments demands alive? It’s like proper mental.

Exactly. That’s why the double conspiracy is true!
