Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

BoJo isn’t from the conservative left wing, he’s just happy to tell anyone anything to get what he wants (power and money). In the past it’s been more central but with a portion of xenophobia mixed in. Now it’s mostly xenophobia with a few ‘levelling up’ lies mixed in.

I think Boris is from the left of the party. But his desire for power outweighs his integrity and staying true to his beliefs.

I can’t remember the last time that a Conservative PM was willing to raise taxes in order to pay for things. Everyone since John Major has just gone with cuts elsewhere.

Don’t get me wrong the only thing he cares about is himself, but then we’ve always known that.

But he’s definitely the most liberal PM we’ve had since 2010.

If I was the Prime Minister of this great nation with a salary of some very big number, I’m sure I’d be very humbled and only think of other people. So vote for, Mr TheMan in next time.

Can we get back on topic?

Back on topic. Start a new thread if you want to discuss the prime minister.

So leading on from the vaccine push (&!to return to topic)

Should we be asking cadets to confirm they have been vaccinated (particularly if they’ve been vaccinated on the same day as a parade night in case of side effects)

Should RAFAC from January make it a requirement that all cadets & staff unless medically excempt are vaccinated before being permitted to attend either face to face parades or residential camps/courses.

I don’t think we have a legal basis to do so and given that U18s are not (yet) eligible for boosters, it might not help much.

Encouraging LFTs and following isolation rules is probably the most we can do.

Then that rases concerns of pressering cadets and staff to get the vaccien, which sounds like a concent issue to me.

Not so sure about parade nights, but it would make sense when it comes to residential camps.

No legal reason that it can’t be done, it would just join the list of “club rules” like hair cuts.

I think I remember hearing from one of our Wing/Region Camps in October that Cadets and Staff were all completing an LFT before starting the day’s activities.

This could have been at the request of the station for the camp to go ahead but it all seemed to work :+1:

Yeah, no.

Not a consent issue. And would make perfect sense to introduce it, especially as we’re so keen on any other risk reducing measure.

I wonder though where the boundary between club rules and discrimination lies. I think with jabs etc we must be getting pretty close.

Vaccination status isn’t a protected characteristic, so not close at all

We’re a voluntary organisation. Nobody’s forced to join. It wouldn’t be remotely close to discrimination.

Or could it be seen as bullying?

If an unvaccinated CFAV felt they were forced out the organisation there might be something there.

I don’t know? I’m just sure someone could kick up a fuss about it somehow.

Pretty sure this doesn’t give you free reign to do whatever you like.

Certainly the camps my Cadets have been on this year, a negative LFT was required prior to arrival on camp and they had to take enough LFTs to last the week, I’m not sure if it was testing every day or every other day but there was no issues from the Cadets on meeting the camp requirements.

But vaccination status may be linked to a protected characteristic (disability/religion or belief) so we would need to show that reasonable adjustments to the policy are made to allow those people to still attend.

For consent to be valid you must not be pressured by anyone to give it. So a cadet feeling like they’ll be missing out big time on activites and stuff would be alot of pressure. Could also lead to peer pressure from friends and staff members to get it. So even though we’ve got to protect everyone. At the end of the laws around consent unforntuly havent been updated to say you must get the COVID vaccine. We havent got as desperate as Austria yet.
