Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

Maybe someone who has had a positive PCR test can tell us; are they told its alpha or delta, or just your positive :man_shrugging:

Pretty sure the only way to know what variant it is is if the sample is genetically sequenced and I don’t think they give you that data because it takes longer than just knowing if the virus is present or not.

I certainly hope not. Schools will be open so we should be.

Think a lot of the media need a chill pill over Omicron. Sure its new and unknown, but the measures so far are sensible. Give it a fortnight or so and we will know an awful lot more about it, and affect in general.

Interestingly, whilst this is a more unusual and larger mutation, per current research and thinking, it is not the worst mutation, which was the earlier South African mutation, now called Alpha I think.

Keep calm and carry on (safely!).

Covid wasn’t really getting good headlines anymore, so they needed to boost the scare factor somehow.

Earlier on the radio they said there would be sxhool administered daily testing.

Not a bad thing in my book, and handy for us as an organisation as we then know most of our Cadets will have been regularly tested.

I just have to wonder what the government’s end goal is? Zero covid is basically impossible without vaccines that are highly effective against transmission of all variants. Are we supposed to accept that we are going to have to lockdown every few months for the rest of our lives? What exactly is the plan? Is there a plan? Silly me, I shouldn’t have asked that last question…

I think that this time they have acted early to avoid criticism for being too slow then they can scale it back and save Christmas.

We were on track to avoid a Christmas lockdown due to opening up earlier and therefore being ahead of the current wave, can’t see them throwing that away if they can avoid it.

If it was my trainset it would be mandated vaccines unless medically exempt for all then crack on with normal life. In the interim, masks everywhere, working from home where possible

There has to come a point where it is accepted that this is among us and not going anywhere soon.
If Spanish Flu is taken as an example it was around for 2 years (at least). Bearing in mind international travel wasn’t as easy as it is now and they didn’t have the joy  :face_vomiting: that is “instant news”, people would have just carried on with their lives and if people got ill and died, sad, but how it was. So with the easy of travel and what seems to be quite a wide unregulated movement today, you can see this being around for a lot longer.
So what do we do accept it’s with us and just get on or let the plethora of doom mongers control us?

On a camp I went on recently 2 cadets tested positive on diffrent days and when they did they were instantly put in the spare room which was being used for such purpose. And they had a seaperate toilet and all that. So sounds like this has come into effect.

New NYA guidance due out by Thursday, there will be a livestream on their YouTube channel at 1200hrs, 2nd December.

Balls.

Context?

If we go back to bubbles i will just close the Sqn.

Cant do it.

Sorry.
Nope.

Had enough of this utter balls now.

Not going through that again.

Easier to shut and have a life for 6 or 12 months.

Nope.

Sod it.

:raising_hand_man: We’re still in two bubbles.

We just managed to get out of them.

Time to just let it run its course.

bubbles was hell/difficult with the circa 45 cadets during lockdown.

We’ve had a surge of recruitment with now 75 cadets. Would be even worse. especially with the amount of newbies. Currently considering three parade nights a week, to cope with the amount (especially as the ACF only parade once a week with their 9…)
