Seems even RC SNI doesn’t agree…

Please to see that we are now dropping case numbers again.
Heard on the grapevine new policies are about to come out for resedential activities on military establishments
There must be a covid secure environment, that is staffed by a seperate team of volunteers. When a cadet or staff member tests positive they are to enter this environment and planning can no longer assume the cadets parents can collect them any more. I believe that one Wing has had to cancel upcoming resedential activities as a result. As a result there’s also more documentation required.
Not sure if this is yet HQAC policy, but this certainly is being pushed by my RC a a requirement on all residential now.
Apparently we cant assume parents will collect their kids and as such must be able to provide a seg unit for COVID cases.
Separately staffed.
When will this madness end.
So potentially OK for larger residential activities (bigger than a normal Camp) with lots of staff, but what Staff member is going to volunteer to staff this facility, knowing that despite wearing a mask etc you will have been exposed to a probably unvacinnated positive Covid case?
So how the hell have we coped for all these years? It’s in my Admin Orders that parents must be available to collect in case of an incident.
Surely this is a health and safety risk to the member fo staff who isn’t going to be provided the appropriate PPE to treat Covid patients?
Personally I wouldn’t bother organising a residential activity, asking a staff member to put themselves at risk of infection isn’t fair or worth it.
Poorly thought through by whichever DDH has come up with this.
Ironically it’s probably one of those who are obsessed with costs and who questions how many staff you can take on camp.
And probably one who has always had a nanny and doesn’t realise that parents can actually be hands on and so stuff for their kids when they are ill
You say that I was on annual camp, cadet got appendicitis… Parents were in tenerife…
Heard rumours of a Prime Minister briefing at 5pm…
…will see what the plans are for Christmas…
TV guides have blocked it all out
To be fair, if this becomes a thing, I think ultimately we will have to keep residential activities fairly local for the foreseeable.
What would help though is having some Covid safe transport. As an example, the company who provide transport for us at work have made a Covid safe minibus, adding a sealed perspex bulkhead between cab and main area. If we had something like this, along with an isolation block / building/ room, we could at least if needs be transport said individual home if family were unable to collect. Then everything else carries on for everyone else.
And… Face masks are back
Don’t remember that being said. But did say review in three weeks, just in time for Christmas. And four more countries on ‘red’ list!
Just been clarified in the questioning… Back for retail and transport.
We are neither.
And already have them anyway.
No change for us.
But contacts of a positive omicron PCR test must isolate also.
How do we know if its omicron, alpha or delta?
Does a PCR test show this?
Yep.
Words
Anyone else worried we wont be coming back after Christmas…
Yeah but that’s more down to the Region changes
