My barber is going to. We spoke about it a couple of weeks ago. Makes sense when you consider being in extremely close proximity to dozens of people for extended periods of time. It’s also their livelihood on the line if they become ill or are identified as the source of an outbreak.
My GP surgery has sent out notification of the same. Makes sense when you consider dozens of sick and vulnerable people passing through daily, sharing the same space, and doctors themselves coming into direct contact with all of these people. It’s also their reputation and consciences on the line if they are identified as the source of an outbreak and/or kill someone.
There are other examples.
Cases are still through the roof and likely to continue rising.
It’s no different a concept to “No shirt, no service” - businesses hold the right to require almost whatever they want to as long as doesn’t break the law. Before anyone goes there: something not being required by law =/= an unlawful policy. They also have a duty to sufficiently protect their staff and customers in whatever way they see fit, from any hazard or risk that is present.
Much like we have a duty to cater for the welfare of our cadets and fellow CFAV, with CAC ultimately bearing that burden in its entirety, across 1000 locations and c.60 000 people.
It’s not about working it out for yourself, it’s about the numpties we all know exist that would crack on and drop whatever the NYA say they can while the RAFAC might take a different position.
Again, cases are through the roof - well above the first wave, have risen above the second and done so as rapidly as the third.
“But the vaccine”… Doesn’t help those that can’t get it. Viral infections are buggers in how they can affect you long term. “long COVID” is accepted as a thing, but the post-viral infection chronic health condition is not a new concept. M.E./CFS, mental and neurological effects, and others ruin people’s lives and put long term burdens on health services.
From what I’ve seen and heard, dubbing millennials as the “me me me generation” all those years ago was clearly deflection and projection.
Being asked to conduct a simple task to protect others is apparently an upsetting notion to many in this country. How sad. Meanwhile they’ve been ahead of this idea for years in Japan and Korea and other places with similar social sensibilities…
