Some good comms again by HQAC (is this becoming a trend?). Fairly prompt after the PM’s announcement, clear and well explained. It seems a sensible position to take as well.
Erm… it’s the only position they can take…
Until the 19th at least.
I should add to my previous; I’m not saying that I fully agree with it, I’m just happy that something has been said before the day it’s self. Little steps at least? Proper letter to all explaining what’s going on.
It’s a bit of a tricky one as I know I’ll be going out-out on the weekend after the 19th, and it will likely feel normal again. But then come Tuesday evening if I go to the squadron it’ll be masks on and distancing again.
But as I said above, if central Gov is advising we carry on the way we are, or at least most of it, then the MOD will struggle to go against that advice until it changes.
As we are a voluntary organisation, we can unlock as soon as the law allows.
Any cadets or staff who dont want to attend for whatever reason, dont have to.
We shouldn’t stymie the whole org, so that the minority now who havent been vaccinated can attend.
But how often in the past have HQAC failed to communicate any position at all and just left us unsupported. This time there is some leadership and communication.
I’m not disagreeing that the MOD, CS and HQAC are infested with risk adverse (verging on risk allergic) staff.
What I’m saying is we should be opening up to the max we can.
We cant cripple ourselves for the sake of a tiny minority now.
Yes. That’s only a good thing.
That’s not the point though.
The point is, they could have waited until after the NYA announcement tommorow and communicated the actual position.
Or simply said ‘wait, out’ until tommorow.
Nvm.
We all know the MOD, CS and HQAC move at the speed of drying paint.
Basically it’s all now on the NYA.
If they go to ‘Green’ which is what ALL their previous indications, timescales and info has been inferring then we can get on.
If they decide to be super risk adverse we will be stuck as we are until when?
Whens the next unlocking date?
We dont have one.
We are essentially at the end of Boris’ road map and if we dont full unlock now what we are left with will become the status quo.
But if they waited for NYA guidance, we won’t hear anything until next week after it had worked through HQAC and the MOD. So this holding statement, following by more comms next week, works for me. Not perfect but a great improvement from 18 months ago.
Nonsense. Could work as below.
1300 tommorow. NYA pronouncement.
1400 tommorow. Comdt letter. Wait out for RAFAC guidance update.
Next week. Updated F2F guidance released.
Where as now it very much feels like Comdt is pre-briefing us for a stay as is summer.
With the amount of cases and cadets having to isolate, I’m more than happy to be cautious.
Hopefully this statement is just as mentioned a holding statement:
Carry on as per for now, until new guidance is released.
Let’s be realistic, if new guidance comes out from the NYA going “green” on Monday, the guide needs updating and messaging sent out. We are huge organisation mainly of part time volunteers, who will get the message at different times…
So I’d say if HQAC can react and change policy within a week or 10 days or so of the NYA guidance that is good going.
Until they can issue that new guidance, we have to use the old.
I understand the sentiment @Paracetamol, but I think you are getting a bit upset a bit too soon. Lets just wait to see what the NYA do, and see how long the policy change takes from there. This time next week we might even have the “green” light from NYA and new guidance issued!
We can but hope.
How many times have you made this statement and I’ve replied with the same answer - probably a week or two, which is not unreasonable!
NYA guidance update comes out tomorrow so rules for England will probably be revised shortly afterwards based on their guidance. The other home nations are generally a little later in issuing youth sector guidance updates.
Hardly; you are reading into it what you want to read into it. He’s just saying don’t expect it to become a free-for-all (which is what you seem to be advocating).
I’d be happy if they just relaxed some of the residential restrictions tbh.
This and the bubble rules/limitations.
It would be nice to get the whole squadron back under one roof at the same time.
Because that’s your area of this hobby.
Mine is running a functional Sqn.
This.
This is all I want…
HQAC / The Cmdt also have to balance the law & guidance from each of the Home nations - only England is removing all legal restrictions next week. A high level overview at this point has to be easily adaptable by the CoC in each Region - which a total removal of all restrictions wouldn’t be able to be in both WW and SNI
you can run a functional sqn atm. It might not be the same as pre-covid, but it’s a lot better than VPNs, with a lot of opportunities available
