Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

Creases in the right place?

Had to double check some details with a friendly WO as the first shirt had 2 previous creases in

I think what @Paracetamol is trying to say that club can have rules that are different to the law but these club rules cannot themselves be illegal and trying to enforce such dubious rules may have consequences if the club tries to enforce them.

But there would be nothing illegal about the club rules saying you have to wear a mask.

But a club mandating masks or social distancing measures wouldn’t be illegal.

This.

But as usual not quite so succinctly.

Not during the initial guidance phase.
After that… not so sure.
Illegal, maybe not. Grey area for sure.

Unless parliament passes legislation to say it’s illegal to fit clubs/societies/private premises etc to mandate the wearing of a mask then it won’t be illegal. All they will be doing is rolling back the legislation mandating the mask with the force of law.
Obviously any club mandating it as a condition of membership/attendance would need to ensure they comply with equality legislation.

They have already said public transport operators can set their own rules. Shops likely to follow.

I’m leaning towards keeping them at least indoors. Sure if I’m in my office on my own I won’t wear one, but would for lessons.

Our cadets have largely kept them on outdoors too. I’ve told them it’s optional as they are distanced but they find it easier to leave them on than take them off and on all the time.

That’s as now though!

The Sea Cadets are taking a very different - consultative - approach to their return. They emailed parents and cadets to collect their views on the return…

The last year and a half has been really difficult for everyone, and it’s been fantastic to see the courage, self-discipline and commitment that cadets and volunteers have shown in response.

At the moment we follow rules based on what the government tell us to do to make Sea Cadets a safe place in the context of Covid-19.

Near the end of this month both the English and Scottish governments are planning to stop many formal rules we follow, and we expect others nations and regions we work in to follow soon after. So we’re going to have a lot more freedom to set the rules that work best for Sea Cadets.

We want to make sure the rules we write let us make the biggest difference to young people, so I’m sending this quick consultation to you, a similar version is also going to all older cadets (12+) and our volunteers, to make sure we can hear from as many people as possible.

This consultation looks at how everyone is finding the restrictions that are in place right now (e.g. face coverings), and what’s really important to you and your child to feel safe in the future.

The consultation is completely anonymous and should only take about 7 minutes to complete.

You don’t need to take part if you don’t want to, but we really hope you’re willing to give the time to complete it, as we want to make sure whatever system we put in place reflects your needs.

Unfortunately, we do have to act quite quickly to make sure appropriate processes are in place ready for when needed so please respond to this consultation by midnight on Tuesday 13 July.

Kind regards,

Captain Phil Russell RN, Captain Sea Cadets

Death by public vote.

The SCC consultation looks to be the same as any personnel vox pop exercise to deflect blame if it goes wrong, withI imagine questions slanted in the direction of required response, to make people think they are involved in the decision making process. But unless the people targeted have a real opinion either way it will end up being half a point either side of the middle. But until the govt has actually said what is and isn’t happening it’s pointless. They should have waited until after the announcement of what’s happening.

Don’t forget, CFAV merely “help our organisation run smoothly”

Words

Letter just gone out from the commandant confirming we are to carry on as we are past the 19th of July until a time when new guidance is issued. No real surprise but very nice to see some early and well distributed comms!

Would be good to see the email go to all personal account though rather than just the role accounts for those who don’t have a role account/don’t check the generic account

EDIT: (Just checked and it’s actually an announcement on SPOL not an email, I only got the email on the generic account because of the notifications I have set up)

Lol…
So that’s their solution.
Tell us to stay as we are, until they communicate new instructions…

So, when will they come out? Probably Sept… avoids any discussion about rules then etc…

:joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

I mean, from what was said in the PMs announcement it very much did focus on caution and still using facemasks/distancing where possible. So if that is the advice even if it’s not the law there’s little else we can do. It’d be a dangerous game for our organisation to go against the advice, even if the law doesn’t require it.

So, what?
It’s going to be 2023 before we can recruit to above 30 cadets?

Or face having to run a 3rd or 4th bubbled parade evening if we want to let more cadets join?

Distancing and bubbles have to go.

Masks can stay. Doesnt impact activity.

We cant be stuck like this for another month, 6 months, year.
