Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

Ao someone has been seen wearing a mask for the past 18 months suddenly starts not wearing a mask, you think someone won’t ask!!

Assuming they accept the risk of a higher fine in challenging it

Are you that against protecting young people?

yeah…cos that will work :unamused:
asthma.org.uk/advice/wearingafacemask

if you’re asthma were that “severe” you’d have been exempt already

you’re probably right but…

…this organisation asked for TG forms and other health declarations to take part in activities, for Cadets AND Staff.

Directing Staff: Oh, Turbo I see you’re not wearing a mask
Turbo: Ah I don’t need one, I am exempt…asthmatic
DS: Oh really…that isn’t declared on your health forms or SMS records…??

Someone with such a blasé attitude to the pandemic has probably already outed themselves as someone who would do such selfish thing anyway.

I don’t do a TG23 half the time despite having Astmha, I would guess I’m not alone in that.

They won’t run with it if you’ve said at the time you have an exemption, CPS are shredding so many tickets that they might as well start a Confetti company.

I might not respect a person who does it, but anyone who decides that their health has gotten worse can’t be compelled to wear a mask.

i confess i am the same, the times when i do have a completed form it hasn’t been collected in…

From the Education Sec via the BBC;

Those under the age of 18 will no longer have to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as having been near to someone with coronavirus

so schools & sqns will just end up closing cos all the staff catch C19…? :man_shrugging:

Definitely going to change the personal risk appetite for some CFAV.

Or there will be more CFAV who aren’t happy turning up. Activities with cadets is definitely my highest COVID risk activity

I’m not knocking anyone who decides to stay away because of this, we have to respect individuals wishes, but I would ask how many people do we have contact with in society who are contacts anyway and don’t self isolate, either because they ignore the instruction or don’t have the app, give false track and trace details or don’t even know they are a contact?

And even if a Cadet who otherwise was a contact comes to Squadron, others at the Squadron would then be contacts of a contact, and there is no requirement to isolate as a contact of a contact.

As an loose separate example, I had a colleague at work get told to isolate 7 days after contact (so for 3 days!), by which time a huge number of us had been in contact with them. Luckily no bad outcome for any of us, but it shows how loose this can all be.

I had to self isolate for 5 days last week, by the time my test came in the post I had finished isolating!

Why will cases “sky rocket”?
Why will sqn staff go down with it?
Where is the evidence that this will happen?

I work in a school now and prior to this since last March all you heard through the media is schools are festering cess pools of infectious children. I’ve only been here since just before Easter, but there hasn’t been any of the stories as seen in the media, about schools being on their knees, in our school, those in the trust and borough. So either the experts were talking out of their hoop or closing schools was the only way to effectively keep parents off, so children being “super spreaders’ was the line spun and as it seems no one’s questioned it. Sep to Dec I’ve been told the school sent 2 classes home due to random contacts related to parents not actual kids or teachers being infected.
Since Easter a couple of teachers with young children have had to stay off because someone at their kids schools ‘had a contact’, yet anyone required to isolate tested positive. It’s this sort of things that is really annoying.
Speaking to one of the biology teachers, due to how the vaccines work it is likely that more people will catch it, as different mutations occur, but it will in all likelihood be feeling rough for a few days, which people will just get on with life. He’s said this has been a good for teaching biology as it’s science on the hoof and the kids are quite engaged.

Well those who are double jabbed won’t need to self isolate anyway.

Even if I don’t take your points too seriously, I would still like to take a moment to appreciate your way with words on this post.

This is a new one on me, but will be entered into general use.

Extrapolate the top right graph a bit. And remember it’s exponential, not linear.

The health Secretary has said they expect cases to hit 100,000 per day. It’s herd immunity time.

Indeed. I believe the peak is meant to be mid-August?

Bound to be, I’ve got leave booked.
