Mask wearing will effectively be personal choice and there will be sod all we can do about it, similarly any reluctance to attend things, be that staff or cadets. It would a brave man or woman who tried to make people do something they didn’t want to. Regardless what the Govt, NYA or HQAC says.
To be fair, if I have any Cadets or Staff want to wear a mask, no problems they can.
Me personally, I will be doing away with them on 19th July, but if I go anywhere come October for example and all I hear is coughing and nose blowing I’ll likely don one pretty quick.
Time to be sensible and respectful of each other. We have had the enforced part of Covid, now we have the cooperative part.
The problem is in that situation it’s those people coughing that need to be wearing one!
They shouldn’t be there in the first case of that was the situation
Which is where the problem lies. The people not wearing them could well be asymptomatic and pass it on to others.
Let me remind you that “our club, our rules” still reigns supreme.
Any mention of recommendations in the youth sector, or in “situations where prolonged close contact is likely”, or other could easily see us continue with masks indoors, or distanced seating without, a ban on licking planes, or anything else.
I can see businesses like barbers/salons and others that are up close and personal with dozens of people a day potentially continuing to request mask use.
It’s still out there, and businesses and organisations are within their rights to risk manage as they see fit. We’re hitting a 4th peak of daily cases currently of similar magnitude to the second and the vaccination programme isn’t complete not is long-term efficacy fully known. 7 months from the first one, it wouldn’t be pretty to discover in a few weeks time that it’s worn off!
In the broader context, a lot of our organisation’s restrictions don’t make a lot of sense. They can run around indoors without masks, but can’t sit quietly in a classroom etc. Then there’s the difference between us and schools. But 100% full steam ahead letting people lick each other again is probably too far the other way.
There are still numerous cases regularly being found in schools, so it’s doing the rounds among young people. Don’t hold your breath for no restrictions.
The worst bit
If the almighty perms want jobs they will have to get over themselves as the Corps is on its knees.
Most Sqns and Sqn staff have no.idea about building a sqn up from scratch. All I hear about is how…
‘I’ve lost all my ncos’
‘I have no staff’
‘I cant run any activities I used to because x,y,a have left’
If the perms want to keep their jobs, they will let us get on.
If not. Oh well it’s been a good 25 years… I can get another hobby faster than they can all get jobs.
If they go all out and it goes Pete tong with widespread infection of cadets and staff, can you find a new hobby quicker than they could lose their jobs?
Anyway, this is all moot until we get NYA and then HQAC updates. All I’m saying is we don’t have cause to celebrate “freedom” yet.
Would love to see them try and keep social distancing or bubbles…
Masks maybe.
But bubbles.
Hard to justify, when everywhere from shops to festivals will have no restrictions.
I can agree with that for sure. The other thing that seems to be being overlooked is that there will still be a requirement for self isolating when you test positive/have a close contact. Once we open up the cases will skyrocket, there’s no doubting that. So there’s going to be a hell of a lot of people that won’t be able to go to work.
However there is a chance that isolating for contacts will stop. There are presently trials involving daily rapid tests to avoid isolation, and there could be different requirements for those who are fully vacinnated and those who are not. Undoubtedly isolation by those who are positive will need to continue, but contacts really needs to be looked at.
I think this is the time that they are planning to go for heed immunity.
The vulnerable are vaccinated, so are a good proportion of everyone else, now you let it run through the remainder of the population.
If we are no longer required to wear a mask from the 19th, but the NYA and RAFAC decide to continue with the policy, I will certainly develop asthma on the 20th and therefore become exempt from wearing a mask!
And other negative words.
We’ve seen the NYA be typically risk averse so I can see some limits on numbers and PPE remaining. We should prepare ourselves for that and then if it is removed and put down to personal preference then that’s all good.
I suspect that’s going to be a hodgepodge, just because the law no longer mandates I can see plenty of businesses still doing so.
If TfL don’t kick up a stink and keep masks on the tube I’ll be shocked, would be prime chance for a tube strike.
An interesting challenge. So what would you if the CoC ask for proof of your ailment from your doctor
Tell em to jog on! Employers don’t have that right so a volunteering organisation certainly doesn’t. Hell Police enforcing the law on masks can’t ask for proof that you have a medical condition, they just have to accept it. (Or give you a ticket despite your protests and see if a Court will run with it).
Publishing a list of exemptions was the worst decision of this pandemic.
