Over 18s = groups of 6
Under 18s = groups of 30
If tent groups are <18 then yes, they can mix.

I think I confused myself trying to figure it out!
That’s a shame I was hoping for an increase in bubble size to match the residential.
Seems odd that you can mix 30 cadets for 2 or more days but not for 2 hours indoors. Outdoors is still unlimited though?
Yes yes and yes
Seems like there is no consistency and restrictions are just plucked from thin air so everyone looks as if they are doing something. /rant
It might’ve been badly worded, my best guess for now is that it is rule of 6 for the overnight part (tent, dorm etc) and a presumption that the 30 is outdoors, both of which are permitted for the public anyway since the May easing. It would seem daft if you can have 30 indoors during the day on a residential but drop back to 15 at the HQ.
Maybe someone’s been able to get on the webinar to clarify?
Webinar is tomorrow I thought?
Do schools use the NYA guidance? My nephew was off on half term a few weeks ago and went on an adventure trip with his school - where they had 20 in a large dormitory.
I think it is yes. Won’t be able to get on to it from work anyway.
No, theirs is DfE school-specific guidance I think.
Different thing, schools. Which makes it harder for us in a way. @Farmerdan or others of the CCF on here will know more.
Here is the NYA webinar link, for anyone who has the time to watch live:
Maybe someone could ask the question about group sizes
Yeap. And it’s more of a minefield than NYA stuff. Residentials permitted within bubbles etc - but getting insurance to do residentials at a cost effective rate is near impossible. Even those with PGL bookings which were rolled over from 2020 aren’t actually able to go due to either insurance, everybody wanting them, or the activity providers running at reduced capacity.
Many of our Primary’s “residentials” will - if they do them - be a camp out on the school field. Some of our Secondarys are running DofE under in-house arrangements (as they are all Directly licenced centres) - but, again, most trips have been stopped and residentials have been parked.
Our Secondary schools Y11 cohort (who missed their Y10 residentials) are also missing NCS residentials (which also fall out of NYA guidance) as they decided early in the year to have reduce their programme locally.
I happened to walk past a relatively large group of young teenagers + some adults wild camping about a month ago in a mountainous area, which I thought was a bit odd.
Wondering if it was an Open DofE group or something which had managed to fall through the net (knowing the Council I live within have basically banned all minibus travel atm), I had a chat to a couple of the staff. Turns out they were from a very famous public school - and since they board, it doesn’t matter if they’re in a boarding house or camping for their bubbles…
Oh, how the other half live.
Coincidentally, I seen this earlier today… something similar I imagine?
NYA Webinar was interesting if a tad complicated.
I fear it wont be long until we are in the position of taking the number of under 18s, as a value in farenheit and then multiply it by the number of staff in celsius, build in the drag coefficient of a Volvo V90 with a roofbox on and divide it by the number of london red buses. If the number is greater than Pi you are okay to do 1 days activity.
Summary if possible
Not possible really. Lots of complicated variations that I don’t really have time to type…
The bullets I posted from the guidance are still probably the best summary. Might be easier to try a few ‘can I’ questions…
